*cough cough* I'm baaaaaaaaack......
Yeah.... the flying turtle flocks back to teh NS forums after the dying 2.01 WON phase. Seeing all the cool concept rifles being posted up and made, I decided to whip up my own, hoping it'll be good enough to garner attention and be modeled. Just a quick concept I whipped up last night. Thought it came out good. Theres a story to it, sorta Shirow based, so yeah... Just getting my inital designs up here for critique. I am NOT done with them yet, lots of detailing and prespectives left to do.

B) That's a really nice gun! Apart from the porting on those rails I think it'd also be pretty low-poly.
C) Who'll answer the call of duty?
Yeah...if you want them to look paper-thin.

It reminds me of this bulky U2 mg just a lil. Try stretching it a lil maybe i dont know
Good luck and Welcome back!
Theres nothing I dont like about this gun. Its perfect in every way!

Might as well lay out the story of it a little. I've dubbed it the Advanced Series Variable Rifle (ASVR) which fires 5.57mm ammo. (Just like the FN-P90) It's comprised of a lower receiver/frame (the portion with the trigger and stock) which pretty much stays the same. A upper receiver which can be changed to accept high stresses from different ammo types (High-Velocity, Explosive, etc.) Then there's the upper frame where the barrel threads and locks into, and the barrel itself. The stock barrel has a tri-cut muzzleflash at the tip, whereas the high-velociy version I designed is a little longer, is tri-cut with a smaller muzzleflash cut on each tri-cut flap. Then it has raised ports running down the length of the barrel that would be inside the upper frame, all in a tri-pattern. The final pieces is the HUD Module and HUD Cradle, both part of the Interchangable HUD System (IHS) The Hud Cradle mounts above the upper receiver, and the HUD Module into the front of that. The HUD Cradle is basically the sight system you see. The back is an integrated LCD display that links into the soldiers HUD as well as display on the LCD. It displays information such as ammo status depicted by a bar. (I invision the HUD animated on the model, full bar for full ammo, empty with a blinking light for empty. Reloading status, and also firing status (Green light) The HUD module is interchangable for different situations. Low light situations may call for Night-Vision, a sniper shot with the right ammo may require magnification and special sensors etc. The stock has an adjustable cheek rest that can slide forward and back for your comfort. The mag is a bulpup design that feeds into the back much like a FAMAS. It goes in quite far as you can see to make up for the 50 round capacity. Double stacked, yada yada. Oh! And the other weird feature I did. Because of the way I made the stock and grip, theres a built in grip safety like the M-1911 series of pistols. Right on the back of the grip you wrap your trigger hand around. Weird I know, but *shrug* my design.
I hope to get teh slight more finished pics up later. Just bascially little nit-pick things I'm adding in. If anyone is intrested in seriously modeling this as some seem to, I'll try to draw how the HUD looks in it's different modes, and if you need any other views, just say so. I'll also redo a nicer view of the whole rifle if needed. These WERE just sketches at first...
Oh, almost forgot, to Dark Soul, yeah after I pulled back and looked at it, reminded me of the U2 CAR. Never used it, but had seen it on T2K too. Must futuristic rifles seem to go for the "bulpup in stock" design anyways... Still think Shirow influenced me more than anything. That and the M-4 Pulse Rifle.... *huggle*
*edit*
The grip seal on the pistol is a Sakura tree with blossoms blowing off... sorta matches my character and setting for teh Manga....
