BTW: <a href="http://www.gimp.org/" target="_blank">The GIMP</a> is free and pretty good from what I hear.
me like.
If Gimp's as good as OO is, I'd definitely recommend it. Haven't tried it myself, as I have PS7.
actually, id like to try my hand at image editing, i jsut gotta wait for my new pc. (should get it soon) my dad is totally weird about me installing stuff on our machine, so ill just wait untill the whole "get new computer" thing works out.
Yeah, about GIMP, there's a few filters I cant figure out how to duplicate from Photoshop, but other than that, it pretty much is utter r0x0rn3ss.
It's also, from my experience, a tad easyer to use than photoshop, and, I think, a bit more system-resouce friendly...
But that could jsut be because school computers=###.
thats all im asking here.
ok, well, it will let me re-install, but i cant run it.
As for me I am proud of my homemade stuff even if it sucks compared to thier stuff.
I was trying to edit a crosshair sprite... and it was taking me months with photoshop because of all the crazy transparencies and stuff... then I did it in 1 minute with MS Paint. I'm NOT kidding.
MS Paint = Quick and dirty
ok, i dont really know where else ot turn for this. whenever i try to use a pattern in gimp, it errors out and wont let me.... what the crap!
im running the windowsport, thatmay hae something to do with it.
Actually, I find Photoshop much easier. It has higher zoom levels, configurable cursor styles, much greater colour control and layer support.
For instance, you can do this in Photoshop a lot faster than in Paint.

Drawn pixel by pixel, then with one extra layer too add the lighting effects. Some of the textures were done using the limited pattern ability in Photoshop, but most of it is done using either the line tool or a one pixel pencil tool. I never finished it though, due to it taking slightly longer than my normal methods. Oh well. Doesn't look too bad, perhaps I may make another one day. I certainly love the style, we shall see.
Squirrel: This is not the Gimp help forum. We have not helped you because we cannot help you. Good luck getting it to work though.
