<div class="IPBDescription">I need help on banning.</div>We have this spammer on another board that I really like.  But whenever we ban him, he just makes a new account and continues spamming.  I asked in mIRC if you could ban IP address(es) and someone said yes you can but they did not know how.  So I need help on learning how to ban people by IP address(es) and the Ikonboard help is really no help at all.

    Well, I don´t know the answer to your question but what I do know is this:
    Banning his IP might not sort out the problem because he could have a changing IP (oh yes, you heard me right), I have a couple of friends who have a changing IP. I have no idea about how it works though.     a changing IP isn't so strange a thing, simple DHCP server issue.  The machine is assigned an available ip when he logs on, you see this all the time with dial-up.

    It depends on what version of IB you are using, but in ours you would run the admin CP, then open up the Member Control section, and add his IP and/or email address to these two sections circled. You can use wildcards in the IP banning to make sure that if he uses multiple IP addresses (usually from DHCP, not because he's all that smart), you can still cover all the possible range he has access to.

    The user's IP address will show by their last forum post, and is only available to you the Admin.

    I go to the same board as Unknown, and he is a little annoying fool, and he will not stop.     If the person keeps spamming you can also contact thier ISP and have their account cancelled. This had to be done once with another mod I was with.

    Also, and I'm not sure on this, I think even legal action could be taken if it was serious enough. This is especially true if he ever spams porn or anything illegal.

    I believe that we are using "myIkonboard 0.0.1 BETA" currently while the main boards are being repaired.  But I do think that we are going to use the most current version of regular Ikonboard.  TY <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

    some country's spamming itself is illegal

    No, he has not done anything illegal and he and the server are located in the U.S.A.  Other spammers have but we banned them and they did not bother to come back.
