<b>edit:</b> 300th post... hoorah...
I really do hate the RIAA more than anything in the world. God damn rich commie yuppie ****!
The picture is photoshopped and obviously fake, but the whole "RIAA cops" thing apparently isnt.
lol if I saw a team of mp3 police (like in the picture) coming towards me, I'd fall on the ground and die from laughing.
Bascially what they're doing is having ex-police men put on SWAT uniforms and give them ID's and then they go and raid a street vendor selling illegal CDs (which is definately wrong, but this is the wrong way to go about solving the problem), and then they tell the person they COULD be arrested (but not that they are arresting them) and that they SHOULD hand over all the illegal goods (but don't say that they are confiscating them).
Legally, they're not impersonating police officers. However to uneducated immigrants who most likey do not have a grasp on our language, I don't see how this is anything but police impersonation. There's no way for these people to know that these aren't the police. They aren't aware of their rights (even illegal immigrants are protected by the constitution, not just citizens).
This kind of crap really makes me sick. And if they keep this up I think its only a matter of time before someone does think the are police, and they end up shot because of it.
"They tried to scare me," Borrayo said. "They told me, ‘You’re a pirate!’ I said, ‘C’mon, guys, pirates are all at sea. I just work in a parking lot.’ "

if i sawthem i would wet myself laughing... its like playground bullying.. they are trying to make themselves appear authoritive.. laugh in theyre faces...
ARRRRRRRRRRR maties, we will sail them asphault seas looking for booty!
RIAA = The recordin industries stupid atempt to fight piracy
basicaly the make them selfs the badguys at EVERY step they take.
Even people who don't like piracy don't like the RIAA simply b/c what they do is often illegal if any one with out $5million a day lawyers tried it.
honestly, If me and my friends went around in the same get ups and did the same tactic, it would be impersinating a cop and theft if we managed to get the CDs <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Crap like this makes me lose my faith for human kind. Idiocy to rule them all and in the piracy bind them.
I especially loved this one <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->,

Probably best you don't know.
^^
Avast ye! RIAA off the starboard bow! Batton down the warez an' man the mizzen mast, arrrrg!
I almost (note the almost) pity the RIAA, they try <i>so</i> hard to make people afraid of them, but what they don't (or probably do) realise is that we're not afriad, we think it's hilarious.
I think i'll go download some songs just to annoy the RIAA. Then delete them and download them again.
Rats.
"Fighting music piracy to protect"............... This whole thing makes me actually want to go to LA and just hang around the street vendors so I can laugh my **** off when i see these guys
How can it be legal to take people's music? you <u>cant</u> make that legal, becuase the artists can sue you <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

It falls under fair use as long as you don't give it to anyone else, I believe. Let me see if I can find the article.
[EDIT:] Here it is: <a href='http://news.zdnet.co.uk/business/legal/0,39020651,39118537,00.htm' target='_blank'>http://news.zdnet.co.uk/business/legal/0,3...39118537,00.htm</a>

You are alowed to make back ups of media (this includes games and movies)
You are not alowed to:
Make money ussing them
have more then one copy being ussed at the same time (thus I can give burns of all my music to all my friends so long as we listen to em atr different times <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)
Fair use covers a few other interesting things also (it is basicaly VERY VERY Grey area of the law)
Who ever has the better lawyer wins in Fair use suits
Note fire use laws exist in the US also (those are the ones I know a little about)
Stuff on Fair Use:
