My Vid Card Is About To Go...

POOF
Okay my current video card's fan has broken and I was looking for a new one. The one I had in it was an ATI Radeon 7200, which I got for this peice of crap about 4 years ago. (maybe 3). Anyways, I'm just looking for a cheap card that can play most of the new games because this one I have can't even play Call of Duty.

I'm thinking about buying this one.

Has anyone tried this vid. card before or has anyone heard good things about it? from what I read, I think it's pretty good for 37 bucks!

I just want a semi-good card....this computer is no beast. It's 800mhz, 512 sdram. I'm going to make a new computer soon, so I just want somthin good for lan games when friends are over

(BTW: Do you think this card would be suitable for BF1942? cuz i figured if I got this, I could treat myself to the BF1942 games.)

Thanks!

Hmmm... I've got that card only 32mb, it's fine for half-life but get pretty crappy fps in BF (<10).

They have an ATi Radeon 9200 128MB on sale at Pricewatch for about $48. It'd be worth it to grab the Radeon, rather than that outmoded POS GF2. Check it out. www.pricewatch.com

I would recomend going radion over gforce, although if your only talking short term that card should last you fine. Don't expect to be running battlefield on that dino though

hmmm... I'm looking for a ~$50 (I'm poor) PCI video card (again, poor). Any suggestions? Oh, and would it be better to get an ATI radeon 9100 32mb or GeForce 4 MX420 64mb? Finally, is there anything bad about those OEM cards?

what kind of crack are you smoking?

who would seriously buy a mx much less a geforce 2
there is NO point having a 3d card if you dont get a good one.

geforce 4 at the minimum i'd say.

IF any mx get the 5200 (which is the geforce fx's mx) which goes for 50. but still if you can i'd get a non-mx even a normal gf3 is better

Whatever you go with make sure its from ATI.
Cheaper cards and just as much (and more) firepower than Nvidia

The R9200 series would probably be best for what you want... it's essentially an upgraded and reworked R9000, which I used for quite a while with no problems. Played BF just fine. It's AGP only though, AFAIK, so Last. can't use one.

The R9800 Pro looks like a good deal, but I have to save cash at the moment or I'd just be grabbing an XT instead.

How do I know what kind of memory my motherboard supports? I looked in my manual and everything, and all it says is "AGP Pro/4X". My old card was SDRAM but I have ran a DDR videocard on it before.....

pllllzzzz can someone help me with my question!

oh yeah, and to add to my question, does it matter what kind of motherboard you have if it was a 128mb card or 64? I've only tried 64mb on this one, and the one I want is 128 mb.

In that case, the motherboard should be able to handle an AGP card fine.

When you say "what memory does my motherboard support?" do you mean system memory or video memory?

The motherboard shouldn't have any trouble running a 4x AGP card with any amount of video memory. As far as system memory, we'd probably need the model number of the motherboard.

    EDIT: clarity.

Although my motherboard only supports 4x, I still think it will run like a champ. Hopefully this card will last longer than my crappy Geforce 4 ti 4600 card (which lasted exactly 13 days).

Ill let you guys know how it runs when I get it. (which will be in 4-5 days.)
