wow this guy is really asking for it... better hope a mod locks this down before things get any uglier
MrPink answered your question quite nicely though in the New player forum:>
"You can either try to be a really good participator in the NS community by talking on IRC alot and on the forums alot and even then there is around a 1% chance that they will make you a playtester. Or, you could join a clan that has access to the beta and get HAMBONE to add you." or you can start your own clan and ask for vet status.
I'm hearing word that soon, if you don't start srcimming 4 times a week as a vet you will be dropped from beta testing and lose your vet icon.
I thought you became a Playtester when you donate $20?
A playtester is a much smaller select group of people with much higher ranking in the beta testing scheme. They will always have playtesting rights.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For donating you become a constellation member, Flayra has kindly allowed them to beta test v3.0 this time round.

Ahh I see, thanks for clearing that up for me comb@t.

By donating $20 you become a constellation member, which means you get some good karma and an icon in-game. ATM it also means you beta test 3.0 but that is only to say thank you for (financially) supporting the NS team.
'Playtesters' are entirely seperate. The majority of them helped NS become what it is today by being the only people to test 1.0 and they also did all the initial testing of 2.0 before the vets joined them. Flayra may well use them to test any future UWE games.
Basically its really easy right now to become a vet...However, clans that aren't serious will get cut in a heartbeat once Elven and hambone get all those apps done. So basically don't join up with a team just because they will have you. If you're serious about clan play talk to someone in one. Generally you probably should be a pretty good player but attitude is just as important.
Not everyone in the beta testing have such simple minds...
That icon means nothing. It doesn't say you have more rights or whatever.
...but by no means a negligible proportion, I must say. Some people really have to learn to get along... there was this occasion where a handful of Vets and CMs were refusing to play on the same team.

There's been **** like this for as long as I can remember now. People need to grow up.
PS: If someone can magically get the vets and consties to work in harmony, can you also instigate racial acceptance and cooperation around the world please? kthx
Vets who don't care about anything aside from the shiny Icon will be flushed out once Elven and Hambone start to see who is Scrimming and who is not.
The CMs who joined for no better reason than to get an Icon will be harder to get rid of, because they have no conditions to stay a CM other than respecting the rules. But the plus to anyone who became a Constie is the fact that Flayra is the winner, even if they only care about image. Flayra benifits from players becoming CMs.
Just as we have Original VETs, we have Original CMs (ppl who became CMs before 2.0 was released, before you got an Icon and before you were allowed to PT B3.0).
All of you have seen how much I love the CM program, I support it all the time in these posts. I strongly believe that being a CM, VET, DEV, or PT enbodies a responsibility. Non members look up to you, because you did something to make NS better. So its important that you are respectful and help make this a better community. If you can't hold your self in a mannor that is supportive to NS, and understand that you are a contributor to this game and in a way a member of UWE, which makes it important that you work together and make the community better, than you shouldn't be a member of the above factions.
Be Proud you have that Icon, be Proud for the right reasons. It means something still and we all have to work together to keep NS strong and make it the best game it can be with the best community it can have!

Yeah, it can get pretty childish.
No, because you'd become just be another ignorant vet like the rest of us...
Seriously though, from what I've noticed the only ones who really makes the issue of 'stuck up vets' are the CM's...
I have not seen a single topic in the vet forums talking about CM's, because the fact is, we don't give a damn, and neither should you guys... we are all playtesters.
Grow up, jeezz.
YOUR THE WRONG ONE HERE FORLORN.
Oh I know about you!
I'm on to your little plan.
Don't play coe with me! I know how you do your business!
You wont get away with it, you hear me you wont get away with it!
/majin runs off screaming and flayling his arms in an insane fashion.
Also, stop the "CM" and "VET" ****. I would hope that you know a difference between a group and a person. If someone acts like an idiot, they're not a "CM" newb, they're just a newb. If someone acts like they're better than everyone else, they're not a "VET", they're just an idiot. That goes for every category ( CS, for example). If someone is an idiot but they're both vet and cm, who do you blame then? Both groups? It's not like there's an exam before you enter the program, so no one should be held responsible for another person's actions based on what group they "belong" to.
Forever.
Well... when you're 16 with no visible income you tend to want to get something for your money.
Forever ah ok... that's good.

I don't mean it like that. I'm just saying that the people who say things like "omg WTH cm newb just donated for the beta" mostly do it to feel extreme and more elite than someone else. Who cares, Flayra gets the money either way and it's not that big of a deal to him if one more person "tests" 3.0.
