I just don't like the idea that I have to basically abuse the game to do what I want.

Do you know the enchanting formula? I have difficulty even putting a single enchantment on things, unless it is REALLY REALLY REALLY crap. Wasting a hunger soul for a ring that heals 1-3 hps? GG.

I wish I did. I also wish I could find a plugin that made enchanting an actual viable skill to raise. I usually just ended up paying obscene amounts of gold to NPCs to get what I wanted, just because trying to enchant something decent yourself was usually a no gain for high input scenario, regardless of enchant skill level (and reasonable intelligence stat) I swear I saw a plugin doing so many moons ago, but I can't remember where...

Is it constant effect healing? Because that is one sweet ring if it is.

I've never really bothered with enchanting stuff, except for my floating pants (constant effect water walking) and my flying skirt (levitate 90 seconds). You can find incredibly good items in game that will generally be better than most stuff you can enchant. Enchanting is essentially there for the things you can't find in game, like weapons with constant effect fire 30 points for example. In that role it works quite well, at least for me, and my character only has average intel and enchant.

In any case though www.gamefaqs.com will have heaps of info on enchanting.

QUOTE

You can get into the dwemer stronghold at Dagoth Ur regardless of whether you're up to it or not. In fact, you can get all the way up to Dagoth Ur himself. Supposedly, you can't do the special thing you need to do to kill him without a certain artifact, but it's possible to do it without, if you have a lot of hitpoints and if you have healing stuff.

If you go into Dagoth's Lair before the main quest is fully activated, you can't fight Dagoth: he's just not there. You actually have to go into Dagoth's main place for one of the quests, temple I believe. Even if you did manage to get to Dagoth and fight him, you can't kill him; he'll just keep being reborn.

Oh I can help you with that. Just get an expensive/extravagant ring/amulet. Put a cheap crappy spell in it like heal for 1 HP on self.

Then just find somewhere you can rest (mages guild in Balmora is good) and then CLICK.

    And I mean CLICK.

Inevitably with about 40 minutes of 'real time' clicking, you'll have 100 enchant.

Then again, that is what you do if you abuse morrowinds ridiculous use to gain system. Never liked them because they are insanely imbalanced systems. When all you need to do for 100 sneak is put a rock on that key in the room with the guy who gives you the first quest, it just shows how ridiculous things can be. I wish it worked it out some other way, and let you put points into stuff as you level up.

    Bah.

Can only do that with a Golden Saint, Ascended sleeper or those other two fellows (You'll know who I mean ). I rarely bother, because it never works.

Depending, if you have a few good souls and a suitable weapon (I think Daedric weapons have 275 enchant slots or something) then you can make amazingly abusive+cheesy weapons.

Just make sure to NEVER make a constant effect bound x. You WILL regret it.

Yeah, it seems the game just hates me and won't let me enhant anything more than a healing ring +1 or so.

True, but I tend to think that walking around with a 30 heal constant effect ring is a bit too powerful

Tip: if you ever get the expansion Tribunal, make sure you capture the soul of the end boss. It's very strong.

    Whoops. I slouch corrected.

You could.. always create the item with the editor, should you wish

As for the Imperial garrisons - If the old Dunmer strongholds were only manned they would go far in enhancing the security of travel routes in the wilderness, as they are scattered across the island in presumably favorable control points. But alas Vvardenfell is purposely kept unsettled as much as possible by House Indoril, originally leaving only Temple guardian cities. A gateway into Vvardenfell, a fortress overseeing a famous pilgrimage site, and the Ghostfence garrison. The Imperial Legion is concentrated in the NW and the South. I forget if they have any good reason to be in the NW but so far they are only protecting their own new towns in the SW.

IIRC when I went up Red Mountain out of curiosity and eventually ended up at the entrance I could not get in except by no clip. Since there is a sheath protecting the entrance from random knockers, unless there is an easy non quest way of opening that I missed. Anyways if you're cheating there does exist a god mode.. I don't suggest just going there and spoiling the supposed end though unless you are seriously curious and roleplaying an early win. There are lots of quest things you will miss though, and it being your first time through I don't recommend spoiling everything and only being able to accomplish winning half assedly.

The interface was rather inobvious to me at first also but very easy to use once you know what does what.

I love making a sword that paralyzes everyone around me on striking. Then switch to explosive swords.

I was primarily a fighter and never finished the game, but practically speaking if I could only enchant 1 good sword it seemed defensive stuff worked better.. I forget if I keep wasting charges by hitting once the spell is cast. If so maybe it's still not ideal. Anyways with a combination of character traits and enchantments you can make yourself immune to attack. At least to some, I don't remember if to all. Not very fun anymore to me, but good to know.

Well, as a random plug try typing COC "ToddTest" in console (SAVE FIRST) for some fun in a very strange area made by the devs.

Cant really call it a cheat, once your in there you cant get out.

You can get inside the Ghostfence quite easily, from the Ghostgate. Just press the buttons on the pedestals to open the gates.

Or you could just do what I did and levitate over it.

Come to think of it, I've never actually been to the Ghostgate, every single one of my forays into Red Mountain has been from the north or west.

The ghostgate...If I remember right, you can get a full (or near full) suit of glass armour there, right?

You can steal it really easy, and even sell it and live happily ever after
