I still find it insane that you put that war down as bad automatically - as if the year would have been better without it. As if a year without the casting down of a bloodthirsty tyrant would somehow have made it better. People like this need to be taken down - it aint fun doing it, but it has to be done. Why does that make it bad?
Thats like putting down "innoculations" as a "bad" thing for 2003. Why is it bad? Cause you had to have a needle and it hurt? Sometimes, no pain - no gain.

Are they worse because you don't know or can't tell who's supposed to be the good guy?
War may have some good consequences (to be nasty, it always has good economic consequences), but with that comes such a payload of misery, that there is no way war as an event can be thought of as good. If it's your home being blown apart, it really doesn't matter if the grenade was thrown by a knight in shining armour. It still remains very unfunny.
Also, the innoculation analogy was not very functional. Innoculations do not kill people and then claim they're cured.
I am referring specifically to the war in Iraq, as I believe most other people in this thread are - I'd probably agree with you on most other counts of war.
They are worse in my opinion (and thats the crux of this - in my opinion/your opinion/anyones opinion), these other wars, but thats because I cant see anything good coming out of them.
Of course for the sufferers of war it all sucks, no doubt about it, and I feel sorry for them.
I feel the innoculation arguement is perfectly functional. You suffer short term pain now (war) for long term protection against disease (peace/freedom). Now when you're a kid, you really cant see this. Your Mom wants you to get injected for benefits you cant really see - you dont want it to happen. But it does anyway, and in the long term it turns out for the best. When you are older, and knowing what you know about innoculations, you really dont see them as bad things. Just necessary evils for the greater good.
Thats the way I view the current war in Iraq - in the short term soldiers and civilians alike die in some pretty horrible ways, but at the end of the day, it will be better for Iraq.

Bad: -Listening to political discussions on the internet. -Politics infecting all that was good and pure (Kristen Durst is a Democrat, why God did I need to know this?) -The growth of redundant arguments with baseless claims and phantom statistics, ignorance in general (See today's Penny Arcade commentary from Tycho for an extrapolated explination).
