Hey, I don't know if this has been posted before, but i found that the name of the alien team is quite funny. In arabic Kharaa means poop. Did the team know this?
Actually the manual says: <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->The tattered voice comm logs they extracted from the command network had one word that stood out, used again and again – "Kharaa!" "Kharaa!" Later, it was understood that this means "Watch out!" in Mongolian. By then, it had stuck. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
But there was a post a long time ago that was discussing the arabic meaning of the word aswell.

In one of the VERY early pre-release beta tests, marines with thier nukes and stuff were really over powered, leading to the untrue beilief that aliens were "s**t", another name for poo. Some smart alec (i forget who) noticed that poo in arabic was kharaa, and the name stuck. In order to make sure that the name is associated with the mongolian, Flayra and the rest of the devs invented the "watch out" story, in the hopes of concealing the real meaning. They were successful for a while, but as was mentioned earlier, the arabic meaning was discussed.
Fortunately, thanks to the quick action of the mods, relatively few ever heard of it, and of those who did, most just believed the handy Mongolian story.
The truth, however, can never be hidden, and it once again emerges.

The truth is that jparis and Flayra collaborated and decided upon Kharaa (complete with backstory basis), from the Mongolian and not the Arabic root. Simple.

Actually, Coil is right. It is not based on the Arabic.
