CNN ain't got nothin on us.
I wanted to make my 1000th post at least slightly memorable. So I thought I'd take a moment to reflect on how this 1 forum can be almost considered a communication medium all it's own.
The number of active users:
Dear sweet jesus, having 50 active people be online at a given time is just nuts. I realize that this pales in comparison to numbers you'd see on irc. But irc is usually limited to talking about a single topic at a time instead of up to a dozen for any 1 user.
The speed of dissemination:
When I hear about a global event through the news or something. I can count on these forums to fill in ALL of the backstory before the story is even done being aired on tv. It's useful to know the stuff that people aren't telling you.
On a sidenote of this speed, I can't even count the number of times that I've discovered that I have not 1, not 2, not 3, but upwards of 4 sessions of internet explorer open that are just viewing these forums. It's kind of creepy really.
The general coolness:
Gotta say that out of all the communities that I see out on the net. Quite a few are absolutely plagued by lamer flamers. Which is only a minor problem here. So, nomatter how much you hate Ninja Flaming Monkeh moderators, they certainly get the job done. Censoring of stupidity instead of ideas.
The background war:
Even if you're just talking about something, you still have enemies in almost any discussion that you're probably having a mini-feud with. It's always nice to make talking into a game of wits.
So, yeah, that's all I have to say about that. This place can truly be considered an absolute usage of the internet in the way it was intended.
Just thought I'd share these thoughts instead of wasting #1000 replying to something pointless.

Ive been a part of other forums that drift apart as a game dies though, so without ns, we would probably all stop comming here eventuly.
Pffft 2000 is nothing, im on my way to 4000.
You're all banned.
;D
I don't even watch the news anymore, and If I catch a glimpse of a frontpage at work I come home and find the full story in nerdier terms on here anyway, long live information highway!
Post count isn't all that important, being member #53 and having joined in January of '02 is much better than any poscount possible. And in the end, having a visible postcount just encourages certain people to spam (you know who you are).
P.S My topic was that we should be able to kill cats the same way we kill cows. (It was a joke, if this was real, I'd protest it but hey, I'm soul-less)

Just remember it was my idea and Iv got more than you can steal!
Still Im thinking of instead of the main forum just narrow it to off topic
I stopped playing ns right after 2.0 came out. And I have still stuck with this forum.

Not true, someone could have just registered real early and not have posted at all. Then joined months later when someone else could have just joined and made alot of posts.
that's pretty much the case on my side of the fence. I'm at a loss with the dire number of ns servers. I can't get a decent game going even if i wanted to.

*edit* They really need to uncensor that word, no-one uses it in a non-sarcastic way anymore. *edit*
I may sound like an asshat sometimes, but I'm an ok guy really :\
These forums are my startpage.

yea i love this place too. lol
that sounds lame but oh well.
I get most all my world news, random happenings, kewl random internet stuff, and generally whatever I can think of here. My friends ask me how I find this stuff out, I tell em the NS forums.
I now have friends that barely even know what NS is wanting to join these forums, and this community, just for the goodness that is these forums. GJ guys.
That's how much they kick ****.
