    Start > Run
Type "devmgmt.msc" and hit OK or Enter
You should find it under "Sound, Video, and game controllers"

    Right Click and choose "Disable."

(You could most likely do this more elegantly through your motherboard BIOS but thats probably not a good idea if you don't know what you're doing).

Ahh, and if this fixes it, then i should probably buy a sound card <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Cause i heard of someone posting that he gets 20-30 fps, then when he disables the sound card he gets 100.. maybe im in the same boat as him.. ill have to try it when i get home from school...

    STEP:
    1) Put your monitor in your microwave, covered in aluminum foil. If it doesn't fit (which I doubt it will) put it out on the street at night.
    2) Cook your tower with your oven. <i>BE SURE TO PREHEAT TO 450°F!</i> If you dont it wont be tender...
    3) Use your mouse as some kind of ninja tool.
    4) Use your keyboard to stop that darn ant infestation. After that clean your keyboard with battery acid. It should work great.
    5) What to do with the speakers... hm, I imagine the subwoofer would make a good footrest. The speakers are targets for a rifle. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->

Anyhow, would you guys recommend the Radeon 9600 XT as a good deal? (190 dollars)
If not, what would be a better video card?  I want it to work with Half-life 2 and Doom3 with reasonable playability.  I believe Radeon 9600 XT will do that as is.

I don't think there is much incentive to get the XT, just get a Pro. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> It still comes with HL2 which is like a game you were gonna buy anyway so its 50 dollars off the card! <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Ah, but they do that for Radeon 9600 XT too now. They dont' put a copy of half-life 2, but they put a coupon in it. I think you meant the coupon too didn't you?

XT performs better than Pro I *think*. Could be wrong.

Yes the 9600 XT performs better than 9600 Pro, but if you want my honest opinion, get a 9700 Pro. Yes its more money and you will have to buy HL2, but it performs much better than the 9600 XT, despite what anyone may say, yes the clock speeds may be higher on the XT, but the fact that it only has 4 pixel pipelines screws it over.

    Keke,
your card is awesome, your computer is awsome, you just need a new sound card!

I would sell my brother to get my hands on that 9800 pro you have Keke.
I'm in no way suffering with my GF4 ti 4600 but I still need more power!

Talesin, we aren't talking about true-color or something here(a common misstake). We are talking 16-,24- or 32-bit floating point <i>per colour channel</i>. For some calculations such extreme precision actually makes a diffence even if monitors only use 24/32-bit precision at the most(8-bit integer for each colour channel, if you use 32-bit colour you also have an alpha channel or just padded with 8-bit extra garbage data, which is usefull because believe it or not 32-bit processors like 32-bit data better than 24-bit data).
