Troubles With My New Flashpoint

...operation flashpoint
That's right, I asked for Operation Flashpoint for Christmas (and coincidently got the GOTY edition with Red Hammer and Resistance). Except one small problem:
First, I'd like to note that the computer I was attempting to run the game on was 500mhz P3 with 392MB of RAM, DirectX 9, and an 8MB ATI Rage Pro Turbo AGP 2x graphics card.
Also, in a moderately important aspect, the minimum requirement for the game is a 16MB graphics card, but I've gotten AvP2 to work on that computer, and its min is also 16MB graphics card.
However, my problem doesn't exactly lie with the graphics (as far as I know at least). I install the game, and it gives me the preferences screen, with the whole here's your processor, video card and basic computer benchmark. At which time I can change the settings or opt to play the game.
Well, when I try to play it, the intro flash screens (Codemasters, and another illegible one) it pops up a little screen:
White text at the top giving 2001 copyrights about the software. On the bottom, in a similarily sized paragraph in yellow text talks about the anti piracy software and how it degrades the game over time so it can't play. Then some other stuff mixed in.
I assure you, my Mom (not knowing how to install a game, let alone pirate one), nor me pirated the software. I have all the instruction books, some triangle shaped (after you fold it) hot key sheet, and some other stuff...and the box. All 3 CDs are there, and they look fine to me.
Now, I really, really, really doubt this is due to my video card being subrequirement. I think there's either something wrong with my disc, Exclusive Company (...goooo Parent Shopping Locales!) is pirating software or Codemasters needs to learn how to code anti-piracy software.
Anyone know how I can fix this, or just suggest I try a new disc? Or, for some bizarre reason, is it my old graphic card?

FADE is a useful in that it detects small lines in the CD. If those lines are not there (IE Not a Codemasters pressed CD) then FADE will kick in after a few plays. It basically gives you the full game but after a bit of time weird stuff starts happening, like bullets will not go in the right direction and all other kinds of weird stuff. (In one pool game FADE alters the physics to the point where the balls float about the table ) Its like having a time lenth demo containing the full game.
Basically if you have a legit copy nothing odd will happen. If it does then your copy isn't legit.
Good Luck
the clever thing about the FADE anti-piracy is that it doesn't just disallow you from installing, like blizzard does.
it lets the pirate play the game, until it starts screwing up.. and then the pirate probably thinks to himself, "wow, this game is completely bitchin, but... well i guess i'll go buy it"
Incredibly deep and oh-so much fun to play. The spec-ops missions are the best.
You should really consider getting a new video card for your birthday or next Christmas. Or getting a job and buying your own.
If fade is enabled there is a screen that pops up with "FADE" written across it in big text during loading.

In my dorm I have a machine well over the recommended specs, with a suported video card...and that's where I bascially play all my games.
Just making sure the game wasn't crapping out on me or anything, thanks for the reassurance...The game sounds very cool and fun with all the vehicles and stuff (I guess there are mods to put more weapons and stuff in the game too).
On a slightly unrelated note: My Mom wants to buy a new graphics card for the afforementioned 500mhz computer. She wants to play the Law and Order game she got for Christmas. It probably works without a new one, but she wants one anyway. The computer only has a 2x AGP slot and maybe one open PCI slot. I've never installed a video card either...
That could end bad...with lots of yelling.
