i need my answer now =/
when i double click to play NS and it brings me up to the HL screen to find seevers and whatnot i get 2 errors:
did you check to see whether that file is there? have you modified your HL lately, or maybe downloaded any new mods, etc? I was under the impression Steam was better at repairing itself than that... like, I thought it automatically downloaded any missing files... though I had an opengl problem recently that kept me from playing too...
if the file is NOT missing, perhaps you should temporarily delete or move or rename it and see if Steam re-downloads a fresh, working copy of the file?
the odd thing is, all other mods work perfectly fine..... (oh i DID put in a new vid card 256 SDRAM and a 8- gig HD but no files were moved or delted YET...

Just to clarify:
Have you played NS in STEAM prior to installing your new hardware? Did you follow the NS installation procedure from the STEAM thread in the TECH SUPPORT forum? Did you install NS first or did you install it after the other mods?
I don't really have any solutions but I thought those questions might point you in the right direction

Erm. Diablus, the tech support forums are there for a reason, and people are generally fast to respond to (easy) questions like this. I'm almost positive you installed a new HL mod (like Sven 3, or S&I) and that it ate your old fmod.dll, although I'm only 80% sure.
Go to the right forums next time, please! [edit]well at least he read my post. Now let's hope he figures out that we can't help him without feedback, or if we just ensured that he'll continually misuse the forums... sigh. We can't win, can we?[/edit]

er...there it is. Just unzip it to your hl directory and then run old for games like ns and new for sven 3.0 etc...

EDIT: Or you can try the classic clientregistry.blob fix. Delete it from your steam folder then open Steam up again.

What version of NS do you have installed? 3.0 or 2.0? You can't play 3.0 with 2.0..or 2.0 with 3.0..and most of all, DON'T INSTALL SERVERSIDE PATCHES.
