Recently a picture of what looks like the playstation 3 has been circulating on the internet, Sony remains secretive about the whole issue and it doesn't look like a quick Photoshop either. Debate...

Dunno it's a bit hard to say, could be an early prototype case or a few days work on photoshop. One day we will find out

Are you sure it's photoshoped, I see no proof that it is, but then again I haven't examined it well yet

Like I said it's hard to say for sure, the pic is a bit small and it's only a smal section of the thing.

Fake. If it were real you'd have much more than one small picture only showing a small portion of the system a la HL2.

It's not a photoshop, but a damn good 3-D rendering. The lights that create the shine on the top of the case, though, don't cast a shadow on the cables. Either that's a wierd finish on the case, or it's just a nice render.

The top one was already proven to be a fake. Like.. a couple weeks ago.
Oh, and as for the disclaimer, yes, sony has. The details they announced were "That isn't our design, its fake"

definitely not. The controller port has another 3 holes in it, which would make it not backwards compatible. And the eject button is nigh impossible to get to without something pointy.

That'd be a good design for the PS3, it could do something more than suck... make me waffles.

the way the controller port is shaped would allow an old controller to plug in, although you would have to sacrifice something. such as a mic, screen, cofee maker, etc

and the eject button looks pretty easy to press, astually looks like it is protruding from the case slightly.

and that does look like a pretty good render. no dust, shadows off, no imperfections. the too-perfect-to-be-real bit that gives most cg's away

Both are fake- it'd be too much money for Sony to give it that shiny look.

The PS2 controller is slanted at the edges. If you look at this one, it's all straight edges.

It's funny... both pictures feature logo designs taken from the first two products. The "P with the S shadow" logo is often used for the PS One. The PS2 logo is (surprise) used for the PS2. I have seen commercials that have featured the PS One logo (the "P with the S shadow) at the beginning, and ending the commercial with the PS2 logo. Dunno why.

But my point is this - the PS2 got its own logo, separate from the PS One. Why then would the PlayStation 3 use both old logos? That's silly, and doesn't fit with the style of the first two consoles.

knowing what the ps3 logo looks like i can tell u that both are fakes... but they're not far off what it might look like
