My underpants supply is dropping to alarming levels because of posts like these.
Dude, great idea! That'd kick ****.
GG Captain Bringdown. WHY is it a waste of money? Instead of making three word posts, try giving us a reason as to why we should avoid buying one. Personally, if the price is right, I'll grab one for a TV or something.
I used to think all that trekkie stuff was fake. This is like, the UBER cool.
Or trippy "Reading Rainbow" glasses?
and the "invisible from behind" part kinda reduces credibility, as does "changes the properties of the air around it"
but, if it is real ... i want one
Think about it... When CD Players debuted in the 80's, they cost hundreds of dollars. Now you can get 1 for 30 bucks!
I can't wait till there is a 3d one of these :-)
That wouldn't work because Images are 2D.
Don't forget, one of these of a similar nature was on display at E3. At first as a keyboard, then as a display when it proved it wouldn't short out and die after a day of use.
And it isn't 3D. It's just a floating 2D screen. So it's still a flat display plane.. just floaty. :b
Personally, I can't wait for these to come out to the consumer market. Hopefully they'll be able to be scan-line interleaved along with the use of shutter glasses, at least as a holdover until someone figures out how to do an actual holographic display. This is just a big step in the right direction. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Think about it though... use one as a control panel and you'd have controls like something out of the FF film; controls that change to fit the task.
Dials, nobs, buttons, flickswitches, drag and drop panels at the touch of... well... nothing really ^^;
no keys falling out or grime; you could even customise it to remove all the keys you're not using, change their shape and everything.
Now we just need it in 3D and 'solid' =3

Asking Liku to make insightful posts over 3 words long is like asking the pope to denounce his faith. It just won't work. You can't convert the braindead.
But anyway, these are just cool gadgets really, but as with all other cool gadgets a high price tag is to be expected, but the amount you gain in looking / sounding cool is worth WAY more. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
I really would love one of these, purely so i can take pictures with me next to it and hold up signs saying "Dear god, you all suck, worship me" and such because i have one and all you don't. Meaning you all suck. And i am king. Yes.
Are you calling the Pope braindead? <i>RELEASE THE INQUISITION</i>! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
On-topic, very cool. Very cool indeed. Although this could very well be one of them derned intarweb hoaxes...<i>easily</i>.
I just hope it's true because...well....I've always wanted to be like the doctor of the <i>Starship Enterprise</i>. To say stuff like "He's dead, Jim."
Back OT, Thats so F-in cool. Man I cant wait till they perfect that and sell them for less than the cost of cars!
o_o.
...what about crappy 3D star wars chess?
Ownt.
Sure it's pretty much useless now with a price tag in the 10's of thousands region, but things do tend to get cheaper when they go into mass-production, and with something as cool as this I think they're going to NEED mass production <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Show me one.
~_^
I'm just saying, does this thing have ANY practical use? Sure it'd be cool to have, but I'll take a monitor or T.V., with full colors, at a lower price then this.
