Is it harsh or not?
Before you post plz NO flames from brain dead gunners or united fans blinded from the facts by loyalties to their clubs. I'm looking at this from an England perspective.
Personaly I think it's very steep because Rio DIDN'T take any banned substances he just missed the random test, however he took the test the following day no banned substance on the plannet can be flushed out your system in 24 hours.
Missing a test should be a serious offence in all honesty but getting banned for 8 months and fined £50,000 is out of order consideriong players like Edgar Davids and Jap Stamm who were both tested positive for banned substances only recieved 5 month bans.
Other players in the Premiership have missed random tests and were only fined £2,000 why then has Rio been so harshly done by? You can't have one punishment for one player and other punishments for another.
The ban will mean England will be missing one of it's most talanted center backs for Euro 2004

i am a Gunner thru and thru.. but yeah.. its unfortunate.. but yeah it will work.. none of the other players will forget in a hurry.. so from that perspective they did things right..
As a warning to other players who "accidently"
miss their "random" tests.
No-one should be allowed to get away with this kind
of thing for any reason other than emergencies.
Agreed. He deserves every month of that ban.
footy player.
yeah thats true though.. if there was no media interest he wouldve just got a bumming from sven... but due to the media.. he gets it alot worse... :s

in short...
one player from manchester utd. and a player for england.. missed a drug test... he forgot or w/e... but yeah he took it next day.. and was clean. yet he has recieved i think an 8 month ban and been fined around 50 g's
basically he is being used as an example.. but it is very unfair and it will hurt us more in euro 2004. cos he is leet tbh.
