thx to paqueman for hosting the server
GG Guys.
Got the demos so I can watch?
But if I did, it would make my life complete. Using up all the CPU on a server to run won 1.04 NS while lagging a bunch of CS 1.6 servers to hell... It almost inspires me to work on getting hlds running properly..
Almost.

If that ends up happing bull let me know, 1.04 game sounds like fun. Back when ono's really where "oh-nos!" not "pfft he just wasted a 100 res"
I think many new players would like to try out older versions of NS <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I'm the only person dead in that picture though...
While I have had a good number of okay games in 2.0, it didn't exactly have the same addicting properties of 1.04. For the most part I have pin pointed the problem down to the hive situation. 1.0x had a very simple goal. That was to get hives. RTs were less important. 2.0x lacks this simplicity. RTs and Hives have become equal in value in 2.0x. Insted of a battle over the three areas its more securing 4 random spots on the map and maybe visiting one of the hive areas to drop a hive.
At least in 1.04 when you spent the entire game as gorge people thanked you.
I have been stuck as permagorge hell, every second game for a while now. I've been gorge for the entire round more in 2.0x than I was in 1.04 and get no thanks. Not to mention that in 1.04 you didn't need onos anyways, a good skulk or lerk, possibly a fade would be more than enough to handle the marines. Onos was and still is a base breaker. If marines turtled in ms it would break them. Otherwise you just use what you have which is more than enough.

A fade in 1.04 was all you needed to win. They were incredibly powerful and the onos was just overkill.
It was an about 2 hour game, of hive 2 fades going at HA/HMG's. Blood pumping action.
EDIT:: Thats the problem with 2.0, nothing really matching in strength to something else. In the old 1.04, HA could match a fade, but not in 2.0, HA are all mighty. Things just dont match up against eachother anymore.... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

very true, in 1.04 i couldn't wait to get home and play again but now i just play ns when i'm board
I too started in 2.0, i really want to try this old 1.04 sh*t
(damn thats some fine use of smilies)
eh woulden't say less memorable games means less dull.. 2.0 is still (if not moreso) very fast paced and with the new 1 hive evolution options very much action packed, but there can be no doubt that they are less memorable..
gone are the days that you could relocate to one hive, capture another, and no matter what the odds manage to break your way out if you push hard enough.. i sure do miss 104, espically nancy... ah memories
