just read it...
right, just a quick spammgae from me.

does anyone ever get a new window open up (not a pop-up), which usually is a conact link, which asks u for ur email, and password.
i get this a lot of the time. nearly all the time trying to contact a website, but it happens every now and again on other certain things.

so basically, has anyone got a clue how to turn this off?? is it in my internet settings?

it just pisses me off, coz even once wen i just wanted no more i typed it in, and it just opened up a blank window.

Ah think you clicked on the wrong subheading laddy - you will get a lot more help in the Off-Topic forum, just above this one. This is the discussion forum for ranting and abus.. for rational discussion of the issues, for more net related techy stuff you cant go past the Off topic forum, but I'm sure one of our friendly mods will come along and phase you over shortly.

If you disable Windows Messenger Service (it's with all the other services), and don't have any programs that rely on it (it's not the same as MSN messenger, btw), then that shouldn't happen. Chances are it's some adware on your computer doing it.

    1) Download Adaware (edit: by Lavasoft) and/or Spybot Search and Destroy. Both won't hurt, and they're free, so go for it.
    2) Run them in each login of your computer. Sometimes it doesn't work right if you only run it in one login.
    3) Look up a tutorial on windows services for your OS. WinXP is easy, 2000 is fine, anything based on 98 should be shot on sight.

Sounds like you don't have your computer isn't set up properly to respond when you click on an email link by starting an email program.

    your talking about mailto:s

    lol

yah, simple solution is to not click those links, if you want to send some one an email from one of those just copy out the email addy (right click the link and go to properties). Then paste that into you prefered email program
