Right, i want to get online with my PS2. What do I do? Do I have to pay for a subscription? Do i have to buy any extras? Will my cable internt plug into it? Please help.
A PlayStation 2, an 8MB PS2 Memory Card with at least 137k of space, dial-up or broadband Internet connection and the Network Adaptor Start-Up Disc to create ISP settings.
How it all Works:
The Network Adaptor easily connects to the PS2 by lining up the Network Adaptor connectors to the Expansion Bay located at the rear of the PS2. Gently tighten the mounting screws using a coin, and you’re on your way!
Once your hardware is set up, the Network Adaptor Start-Up Disc must be inserted in order to set up your ISP network configuration data to connect to the Internet. Simply go through the “ISP Setup” process located on the Main Menu of the Start-Up Disc. You will need an 8MB Memory Card for PS2 with at least 137kb of free space. Please note your network configuration data will be saved onto this Memory Card. The ISP network configuration saved to the Memory Card will only work on the particular PlayStation 2 system you used for the initial ISP setup. Network configuration data is not transferable from system to system.

Doesn't the XBox and PS2 net plug ins REQUIRE Cable or higher? Since the dont want dial-ups lagging the entire game. And wasn't it illegal or something to play Xbox Live or Ps2 net on dial-ups?
Oh ya..my ps2 is hooked up too btw <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> Midnight Club 2 Socom Socom 2 Beta Test (duh, i beta tested it lol)

i was just thinking the exact same thing there esuna...
It would save a lot of hassle coz all i would need to do is hook it up to my router.... Hopefully it would save all the hassle of finding my dads login info for the net. I'd only get it for Final Fantasy XI anyway.

And I might add that dial-ups only majorly lag a game if the netcode sucks or if they host. Really its a selfish act in my opinion. They don't wanna lose like 10 to 20 ms of ping time due to a few 56kers.
socom has problems with some firewalls with NAT that you cannot turn off..ive even set the ps2 port to DMZ host and the voice chat will not work...and i dont think the game ppl have a way to not let 56kers in..ive been in many game in socom (witch is dsl/cable only) and the dial up ppl will join and lag it up

If you are wanting to know if you can have your ps2 plugged into the router, then yes it would work.
