NANO! NANO!! NANO!!! I miss that server, albeit that I didn't get the chance to play on it much. But when I did, the games were always great.

Since the recent downfall of (CoFR), I've been frequenting G4B2S, and I can't always get in on that server due to the lack of a reserved slot. So having another great server as an option would be wonderful without a doubt.

I'm for the return of Nano all the way. I hope to see it around soon

Who doesn't remember NG? NG was the most fun I've ever had playing NS with a group of people, and I'd love to see it return.

If Nano had the chance to come back, and it didn't, I would hire 5000 gunmen to slaughter everyone. I would be one of them, and then I would kill all the people that didn't go for it. Then I would kill all the people that did, 'cause there just wasn't enough of them.

Hmm... something about that sentence isn't right, but whatever.

Nano was and always has been inseperable from EC, but due to EC's current lack of NS-orientated interest I'm not sure where myself nor my fellow 'clanners' stand on this, and as always they can speak for themselves. However many of the #evo'ers seem to be in support of a resurrection, and maybe it'll help revive interest in NS for #evo as a whole. I shall be pondering it.

And now for a super wacky fun brief history of Nano-Gridlock.

1 year and a bit ago, Point Blank gave Evolutionarily Challenged (The original NS clan of course *huggle huggle*) an NS server to help promote their services. The admin of this server was the ever irrepressable Iggsta, who through sheer light heartedness and fuzzy hair ran the server with the help of EC, it's playerbase coming mainly from #evo. Nano was mostly 'owned' by EC, but was also partly controlled by the now deceased 'End Game Clan'. It's reputation as being a fun cheerful, non-leet-haxor server spread and more new players came to join the fun.
Then something terrible happened. Point Blank pulled the server and for a dark, dark, terrible time EC and the #Evo'ers were homeless. Then Lightning_Blue offered us a new server. And not just one but several, and so Nano-Specialist, Nano-Co-op, Nano-Industry and Nano-Defeat were born, to varying success but it was nice to know that whatever we felt like playing, we had complete control.
And for a time, it was good.
Despite the joyfullness of map PTs and Groupie nights, something seemed to be lacking, and whether it was the growth of the community or a sudden lack of interest, the atmosphere started to become more tense, and Lightning Blue decided it was time to move on (to rr.org, where he created linuxmonster.).
Once again without a home, EC slung the Nano name into their rucksack and asked for a savour.

We found two.

Shockwave gave us the ever non-laggy Nano-Redux, sponsored by Zen. And Wither provided us with Nano-Union. Once again neither of the servers attracted the vast popularity of the original Nano-Gridlock, but bi-daily map PTs and the majority of #evo helped keep the servers thriving with life. Then interest began to weign and then Steam smacked a nail into the coffin of interest (for me anyway.) and the Nano's faded into obscurity.

And that brings us to today, with it appearing to come full-circle. A new version of NS is on the horizon and the original server owner has returned. I'm sure Iggy will appreciate both opinions of the positive and the negative, don't just scream 'yes', think about it.

voogru has been around a long time

I rarely stick to one server. Nano, well, it was known for l33tness for at least a *little* bit of its history. This would be about late December of last year early January of this year I suppose. Although I was fairly new then comparatively speaking Nano had a superior crowd on now and then, including [ReD] smurfers and others.

I played more and more on other servers for whatever reason.. when I came back a few times later in the year, it seemed Nano had become newb..

Come to think of it, I almost got recruited my 2nd night of NS playing by a clan which would eventually scrape their way into the top 10 and then fell apart. Course I sucked as soon as they considered me, ah well. And it wasn't a particularly good server. This was my 2nd night of staying up all night to play NS.. that may have been a factor. Course later on I made it a regular habit to stay up.. I still stay up obviously but unfortunately can no longer play NS. maybe this winter break.

I think my level of play has actually declined after I became better in the first few weeks or so. Mostly decision making, and FPS skill polish. When I'm tired and would stop w/ another shooter I still push myself at NS.. haha

I think there should be a thread about NS beginnings.. I think there already is one, i shall probably post there

I think nano was one of the first servers I played on, back in the day after there were more than 11 servers, lol. BRING HER BACK, PLEASE! I loved nano, and many of the people on HAM's server are good and all, but are quite rude. I loved Nano, and...well, I'd love to be a admin there.

And by original configs, does that include all the admins/reserved slots?

I'd be happy if the Nano-Gridlock went back up. But... only if it was the same as back in the day with... the server locked all day and up to the public for 2-4 hours then locked again...
