<div class="IPBDescription">[Sometimes its easier to ask and do...]</div> With the new resource model equiped with the marines--the number of resources they gain at such a short amount of time is amazing.
I'm not going to whine about it--just going to describe methods to survive its oncomings:
<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>Changing the Tides</span>
A few days ago I was playing in a server as a Skulk--when, suddenly during my rampage of the marinestart, I was asked to cap resnodes. I figured it might do more good for team if I laydown something permanent instead of giving the marines experience on how to handle my presences.
I left the marinestart and returned to our hive, gestated, then went out on a gorgy orgy with two others building what we could. To our suprise--despite on how quickly our other skulks were being killed; in by laying down what we could with what we had-we three were able to accomplish holding our hive out against three long siege battles.
The Marines had obviously kept us busy at our first hive initially; the debate came up in both text and microphone:
"Uh, I think we need like, Defense or something, cuz like the marines are killing us"
"Nah man, I dont think we need defense--we need movement"
"Guys. We need more OC's."
Finally I gave a poll:
Well what about Sensory? 1. Yes 2. No
While everyone initially voted yes--I explained to them that they only thing redemption and caraspace is good for is the gorges; considering most of us were gorging and skulking, defense would only make it cumbersome.
They decided to try something new--despite some fucktard went Onos and tried to chase a squad of Shotgunning, Gernading, HMGing Smacktards away; only failed at the doorsteps of killing a small number of them because he was pinged.
Sensory it was. Once it was up; to our suprise, the marines made entrance. They knew by memorization of the map were our hive was--so they thought; every shot hurled at the place was missing the hive and hitting us gorges behind the damn thing--our skulks attacked the HMG'ers and drove them crazy outside of our Hive. In the meanwhile, I had got 40 res; and managed to sneak right past the rines with Sensory.
I went to the hive furthest away from this action--I requested backup with came no later then 5 minutes afterward; two skulks and another gorge. The Two skulks each had about 67 res. I laid down the hive, they laid down defenses, and the gorge had 40 res--he laid down two sensory upgrades and waited for the hive to go up to laydown defense.
The Rines had'nt noticed we had a second hive up; and once the comm realizing in what we had, started to scan our older hive--it was dying, the skulks tried to keep the rines busy; while a lone fade ambushed them from behind. The Commander realizing his initial mistake--he had PG's all over the place except for our second and first hives. He laid one out in both, but the attempts failed. We figured in by destroying his structures, we would surely know of our next hive relocation.
Once the defenses were laid out, we went in teams of two trying to ward-off the HA train outside of our old hive; while trying to maintain the lighter units did'nt weld or build any PG's. We did a good job of keeping them busy--with sensory, the comm could'nt scan everywhere.
The HA Train finally was broke outside of our old hive--we figured then the Comm was going to turn sights to our second hive. Some went fade to prepare; others went Onos--some laid down sensory as we advanced to their marine start.
Defense Coupeled with Sensory seemed to keep the rines at bay--and though another HA train came through into our second hive and killed it; more then half of us were lerking, fading, and gorge rushing their base.
We coordinated that final strike when we watched the ha train leave--we dropped their marinestart phasegate then started working on the Infantry Portals and CommChair. The comm tried to escape but was melted with Acid Rockets and a hail of spikes from nearby lerks--though the final HA train pummeled our defenses; our skulks managed to kill some of the HA units off--and because they were running out of ammo, and we recently had destroyed their ammo giver thingy; a pg, and a sentry farm, we were chasing them off. The Commander tried to regroup what he could with defenses--but once we laid a sensory chamber right in their base and started laying out defenses; the frontline ran right through their start.
The match ended with us having one hive--a few scatterbrained defenses, and one heck of a team. I'am not sure if sensory and teamwork coupeled together saved us all--but this much I'am certain; if your willing to duke it out and take orders for your hive mind, things might succeed a little better then you perceived.

BTW, the comm was too focused on getting the hive down, so he forgot to drop an obs at the outpost near the first hive :/

I guess I missed the point where you got that hive back up <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
