Cyberpunk

do you feel the love....
....cause if you do your in the wrong place! I was just brooding over some stuff during the one serious class I have my final year at my High School and I realised something. Cyberpunk (a RPG placed in the future with a realistic combat/interacting system with a timeline that is surprisingly coming true if at diffrent dates/years) would be an awesome mmorpg game.

It would be a bit tough to pull off considering you'd have to do it very diffrent than most other mmorpgs, but it would be fairly entertaining. I mean sense everyone is a criminal (even and probably most especially the cops) those people that just pull out their guns and unload on people would get gunned down by everyone around them you wouldnt even NEED one of those "Hostile/Friendly" modes like in Diablo II or Everquest.

I dont know...chances are probably hardly anyone has even heard of this RPG and so Im just babbling to no one but if you do know the RPG or had it explained to you the entertainment levels of a free roaming MMORPG based on Cyberpunk would be staggering.

/me wanders of pondering more on its potential greatness

Shadowrun's third edition? Real Men© stick to the first edition. Or the collectible card game, which I never got around to actually play.

An MMORPG based on Cyberpunk 2020 (or cyberpunk as a genre) would probably be nice. Too much cyber these days, and not nearly enough punk.

a mmorpg with free pvp is a bad idea. ive seen it and done it with mods of older games, the environment allows experienced players to slaughter new players and form alliances and gangwars that generally end in death of characters (loss of lots of time spent on the game is not good for keeping your playerbase...)

Neocron was a step in the right direction at least ^^

As far as cyberpunk goes they really need to make a game like the manga/anime "cyber city oedo 2080". Now that's cyberpunk with style XD
I remember playing a sort of spinoff from cyberpunk which involved everyone playing mutant kids in the cyberpunk world. You actually started with a blank playing sheet and filled in the details while you played. It was pretty cool until the mutations started kicking in then it got hard to take it seriously... good up till then though

Here, check it out. My post at the bottom about how mmorpgs should be made. Cyberpunk (in general, haven't played the game) is the best possible setting

there needs to be a mmorpg with something more intresting to do than be a freelance extiminator of vermin at the lower levels...

also maybe something like... a battletech MMORPG... now that would be cool.

oh, and i just thoght... with a cyberpunk game you can possibly eliminate most death apart from braindeath, as pretty much anything apart from your brain and perhapse spinal cord are expandable, ala ghost in the shell.

or even if you do get brain death, your mind could be stored inside wired/matrix/crazy high tech internet thing... and serve as a enity, and try to earn money to buy yourself a body...

    random ideas :x

Stop. Anyway, I keep hearing people describing cyberpunk, and there's nothing in it that I haven't experienced in Shadowrun. [/pimp]

Why isn't there a Shadowrun computer game or MMORPG?
Microsoft owns the computer game rights for Shadowrun, so it's in their hands. This means they make decisions regarding any Shadowrun computer games, MMORPGs and skins/modifications to existing computer games (computer game aids for the Shadowrun RPG are under the jurisdiction of WizKids/FanPro).
Microsoft has not announced any plans and has nothing in development at this time. If you have questions or queries, or you want to encourage them to develop a Shadowrun computer game, write to: shadowru@microsoft.com (no, that's not a typo--there's no "n" in that address).
