I've been waiting for something like this for some time, sounds awesome. I've got just one question:
Exactly how do we participate in this CAL business? Sorry for the nubbish question I've just never dealt with it before. Are there servers specifically setup for CAL matches? If so, my clan is quite active but I'm just wondering how we prove it to you if these CAL servers are all overseas .. (pings of 300-500 are lose)

It's good to see that NS has support out there to keep it going. I have been playing NS since version 1 and i love it now just as much as when i started.
Even though i'm not a memebr of a clan i wish everyone good luck in the competition and i hope more of the matches will be broadcast on the net.
I have the ati 9000 and with my amd 1.3 i never got above 40 fps in big fights

I read somewhere that ATI cards are CPU dependent....the better the CPU the better the FPS

Well, if you have a server browse like ASE or Gamespy, you can connect to it from there by entering the IP. Or you can pull down the console in Half Life and type "connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxxx" where the x's are the IP.

Good call fluffy, that was probably my fault and should be fixed now. You do not need to be in CAL to partake in this. The whole point is we want new clans to form, join, and scrim actively.
Note: I just updated the news post and my initial forum post here to mention that you don't have to play in CAL, you just have to be active on our playtest servers. Yes, some people will be let in that will have to be kicked out, but our #1 goal is to grow the competitive community (and that means encouraging people not in it currently to start).
