Gazaar's book corner

Iii
Wee. Here's another monday, and another book corner. As I said last week in the second thread I would look at Stephen King's best solo work (in my eyes). It's the Dark Tower series. There are supposed to be about twelve books in all, but he's not even done writing the fifth. Unfortunately we will never get to see the ending to this wonderful series because he probably won't get past the seventh one if he keeps going. It's about a gunslinger named Roland. His full 'title' would be Roland of Gilead (pronounced gi lee add, not gileed). The first line of the first book is really great, though I can't remember the specifics, it goes something like this 'The gunslinger Roland chased the man in black accross the desert'. In his chase for the man in black he has to deal with some problems, one of them being a telling of what happened before he went into the desert. It's hard to tell any more about this story without telling you too much, so I'll stop here. It gets 5 stars, like I said last week all of these get either 4 or 5 starts, simply because these are my favorite books that I'm suggesting you read.

How fitting that they have the same number of posts. Please dont diss gazaar. Some of us READ. It's a somewhat old innovation involving words. It gives us pleasure on an INTELLECTUAL level. It also makes us SMARTER, so we can use BIG WORDS.

    edit: dont kill me.

in my opinion, if you want a really good read, with a lot of good humor, read Thief of TIme by Terry Pratchet.

Why, thank you Tycho. And Sharp, Dragon, go read a book some time, like Tycho says, it makes you smarter and you can use big words and actually know what they mean.

heh. And if you dont mid reading long books, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, Clear and Present Danger, Debt of Honor, and Executive Order are good. I reccomend anything by Terry Pratchett, especially his Discworld series. George Orwell's 1984 and Animal Farm are some of the best books ever written, and Kenn Amdalls There are No Electrons: Electricity for Earthlings will help you lean electricity for beginners and is really funny and easy.
