    I may never get around to updating the guide to tell you the truth. I've made it available at my site as another download location. If I come back to NS (I'd have to figure out how to play without steam - I don't need spyware scanning my hdd and sending people information) or get that HL site (the HL site for the unleashed network - it won't be www.unleashed.ws) up I'll have something new, but until then, that version of the guide is all I can offer.

    That spyware stuff are lies, it's because you're most likely running on a FAT32 drive. Steam uses NTFS technology and blablabla....

    What does Steam use that only works on NTFS???

    I was under the impression it would work on win98 aslo, though I am yet to test it. I see no reason why the FAT should effect programs at all...

    <a href='http://home.adelphia.net/~zorg50/gabemail.jpg' target='_blank'>Here</a> is an email that Gabe sent me regarding Steam being spyware. That link that was given two posts above mine also explains why that Steam file contains system information. You might want to actually look into things in the future instead of jumping to conclusions.

    Maybe that's the case, but I'm too paranoid to go installing steam to find out later that my suspicions were true (well, maybe for the next big version of NS once the other steam-related bugs (notice I didn't say "bugs in steam" as if you're right the system information/etc is just a windows problem) have been worked out).


    Anyways, I hope you enjoy the guide - for the most part it's paranoia-free... although almost entirely inspired by dumb commander/soldier paranoia (part of the reason why I haven't really been playing lately).
