How To Switch Over To Steam?

But I've searched the forums on how to switch to the apparently buggy, nontheless, available steam NS. From what I understand, the 2.1 version of NS optimized for steam has not yet been released, but that it is possible to play on steam? And if this is true, how am I to go about switching to steam? I have the full installer of NS2.0, but I want to know how to install it to my steam folder since they seem to be incompatible.

If there is a thread that addresses this, then by all means link me and lock this thread.
