Can't Join A Server

<div class="IPBDescription">computer crashes everytime!!!!!!</div> On friday I got half-life and spent the whole day downloading ns and steam. Then I spent half the week end trying to play it. My problem is:
If I start Steam, click on 'servers' and click on a ns server the 'server info' window pops up and then dissapears again, because steam joins automaticly..... Then half-life/ns starts and the 'connecting to server' window is on the screen. but the connection takes so long that before it's ready it stops, with the message 'time out'. When I click on cancel I can see my desktop but the computer has crashed. If I start ns directly from steam and click on find servers and 'connect', the 'server info' windows pops up and the computer tilts/crashes...... I'm desperate!! I deinstalled steam and tried ns, it worked fine (I created a lan server).

I have copied the fmod.dll
PLEASE, please someone help!!

    The best solution is to just play without Steam for now, there are barely any Steam NS servers anyway.

    i used to have a crash that is sorta similar to what you are describing. for me the problem was video driver, download latest and reinstall them.

    How can I play NS without steam?? Oh and by the way, I was able to join a half-life deatmatch game.

    Well, first of all, update your drivers like leek said, and playing with WON is easy... just install HL from the cd, get the latest patch, and then download NS 2.0.
