<div class="IPBDescription">YES!</div> Ok, every 2 minutes, my computer locks up, frozen... FPS drops to 0, my netgraph shows huge packetloss and choke, and i get to stare at my screeen for about 30 seconds till boom, it pops back to normal. (i dont get that much lag when playing otherwise)

I have a 1.5 Gig Pentium 4 processor, Geforce 4 4400, Connected through a T1 LAN that gives me sub 20 pings at it's best. I get around 60-70 FPS which sometimes jumps to 99 when i am not looking at much, and drops to 30 when i am fighting.

This problem has SURVIVED (IE: still persisted) through 2 reformatts, countless reinstallations of Half life and it's mods, and millions of tweaks from my best technophile friends. everyone has just given up... i am starting to think i need a new PC to get rid of this.

your at college, right? (the T1 LAN)

they probably have a paket shaper/throttle set up and have decided that HL = null priority

if this aint the case the basic idea still holds true

Your ISP is making you unable to play, this has NOTHING to do with your system (probably).

If it is a collegew, your screwed, if it is something else and you SHOULD be able to play, well then contact your ISP (DUH <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

Anti-virus would be my guess, check your hard drive activity light, it is probably going on. Otherwise, it could be almost any program, possibly one you keep reinstalling after these reformats. Also check to make sure you have the latest windows updates

Your error log have nothing to do with your problem, I get the same errors, and I can play the game without any problems (except end of game crash and hard to read menu)

Ok, this happens even when playing Single player games to... Can anyone recommend some anti virus software i could DL to check this out?

Ok... i also have this issue with search engines... every time i try to search i get a "page not found" even though i can surf the net super fast.

steam is updating because it felt like it, next time it happens look at the steam monitor.

I have this freezing problem with other single players games as well

i am gonna try reformatting this upcoming weekend...

Run Taskmanager (right-click on Taskbar) and make sure it is set to "Always on Top". Then sort the process list by CPU and play the game. When the computer freezes, check the CPU list and see which process is using up all your CPU cycles.

Also, try Spybot for spyware...in my experience it does a better job than Adaware.
