Newbie Modeling Question

Ok, this may have been asked and answered before, but I couldnt find anything using the search, I may have been using the wrong words. I was wondering if it was possible to view a .mdl in MilkShape, and how. I wanted to look at a few custom models to see if there were any tips or ideas i could pick up on how to do things. Any help is appreciated

    Im not sure, but if you decompile the .mdl then open the .smd file, it should work

    Milkshape

    Tools->Half-life->Decompile normal HL .mdl

    Tick the reference button

    Nooooo!

    Kratisto's Decompiler is a whole lot better! Don't use the decompile normal HL model! It'll turn out all weird.

    The default decompiler Screws up the origins and bone controllers. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Which is why you should grab the compiler and decompiler from the "learning to model" sticky, and set them up as per the instructions in the first post.

    Yeap. The default decompiler or MS3D often screw up the anims.
    Good for simple world model, but for anything else, use kratisto's.
