I basicly have a problem where me and my mates wanna play CS 1.6 and currently that just isnt gonna happen without a connection to the net or a lan patch.

I am an aussie and currently broadband isnt that huge yet so that sorta kills it a bit in the way of popularity. The idea is if Combat is made to work on a basic LAN from a fresh install without steam then u always have a game to play even if u cant connect to the net.

I dont really have any issues with steam except for the fact that it sux bad for lans at the moment, yeh yeh patch is coming whatever but we dont know when thats coming and even still that means u will need to install the game on a net connection before u go to the lan so u can activate a steam account. That is unless the lan patch will work so that u can install steam accountless when not connected to the net (but i seriously doubt that).

Thanx for the info flayra good to hear 2.1 will be Won compatible too pity about future versions though.

Sufficient to say that Flayra won't abandon WON as long as Valve doesn't.

Please say that I wont have to pay for Steam. Im going to complain so much if hey make me pay for steam. I already bought half-life and donot see why I would need to pay. They themselves are the ones who decided to change from won to steam and because of that I feel that we should not have to pay. On the other hand I also see that they have done alot of work and would gladly give a donation, but to be forced to pay would really tick me off.

Also, does anyone know whats up with the internet privacy law and valves anti-cheat thing? Are they going to be changing whats up or what?

Its free, unless you want to buy additional games (like HL2) through it. (of course you dont have to buy them through steam, theyll still be in the shops..and then you can use them on steam for free)

Umm, ok. You want Valve to die? If there was no Valve you would have no Half-Life which equals no mods for HL because HL doesn't exsist anymore. Why don't you just throw your copy of HL into your fire place, delete all of the HL files on you computer, and forgot about HL and Valve all together? Without Valve you wouldn't be posting in these forums about how Valve should die. For God's sake people, stop flaming Valve. You don't like them? Then just forget about them and stop playing Half-Life. It's as simple as that...
