<div class="IPBDescription">Help a concept become reality.</div>As the name implies, I am starting up an internet radio station just for NS.  Much like DoD Radio, some people here have heard about, and are affilliated with the development of NS Radio.  Presently, we are shooting for a launch date of early September.  We'll have a few servers up, but not as many as we would like.  So here's what I'm asking from the community.  Is anyone out there willing to donate some bandwidth and processor usage to the cause.  If so, please email me at <a href="mailto:kermes@oktagone.net">kermes@oktagone.net</a>  Don't worry, as Flayra gives NS Radio its blessings.   <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

    Halp.

I'm not familiar with the DoD radio thing.  Can someone explain what kind of stuff would be on the station?  I can't really imagine that there's enough NS-related audio to fill airtime 24/7, so what's the deal?

From what I hear, DoD radio rarely talks about DoD. I think this should play 30min blocks of music every now and then, just to pass the time. But then again I think you guys should do tha anyways.

Infact on gamesnet, they have a channel for NS radio

    #nsradio

Basically, what we'd be broadcasting is music and NS news.  News pertains to anything NS related, from shout outs, clan news, to official news.  Music would be anything basically.  Except hate music, that sort of stuff.  Requests would make up a majority of playlists.

I vote for nice electronic music, something chilly and trnacy. Stuff like AtomX makes (<a href="http://www.mp3.com/atomx" target="_blank">link</a>).

But AFAIK many ppl hear also listen to rock, so also rock. would say modern rock (stuff like limb bizkit or papa roach)/ grunge (nirvana&#33<!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->/ classic rock (80s and so)

    You understand. Ok in fact that's what I'm listening too <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
    50% electronic 50% rock
    Sounds fair for both fractions.
    u think?

I don't mean to burst anyones bubble here but there are more types of music than electronic and rock.

    No, really ... it's <b>true</b>.

I believe(and since I'm one of the DJs <b><i>and</i></b> the other head dude other than Zazi, I'm probably right) that the DJs will just play music from their respective tastes. You'll hear mostly punk/alternative rock on my show, with some random stuff mixed in too just for fun.

Basically what I mean is that there are 24 hours each day when we can be on-air, and the DJs can fill that up with whatever music they want.

This is DJ Steve-ster coming here to fix all those ovens around the world.

I think I have the radio voice down.

I vote for some quality Heavy Metal and Clasic Rock in there at some point.  As long as Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, and Crazy Town are well out of sight I'm not bothered, though.  And some quality Blues.  Play some Blues.

This all sounds great to me.  It probably won't be "official" because then we'd have to watch/moderate the content, and no one wants that.  But that doesn't mean everyone won't listen to it, or that we can't support it!

It would help tremendously if you could tell me exactly what you need.  I have lots of people offering to donate servers, but I don't know the setup, software or bandwidth requirements you require.  How about your average Linux HL server...could that handle it?  What software are you using?  How much bandwidth do you need?  Do you need root access?

Personally, I'd like to see Humbaba doing a strategy talk show...maybe people could recount their battle stories as well?  Might be cheesy when read aloud however.

currently the prob with getting a shoutcast server is the amount of bandwith u need for it to play to allot of ppl
(it req more upload than a HL server (per user))

That's in fact the thing I was talking about.
My post was just some kind of personal thoughts of music.

    This idea is great.

dear god.. please no RAP/HIPHOP/R&B/POP... god all of that is terrible.  How can people even like that type of music it requires no actual instrumental talent or anything.  If you ask me, i really don't need to hear 50 varations of songs how 'life was hard in the hood' i could care less, they make me sick.

Cy, if the radio station plays something you don't like, turn it off. And grow up. Please.

Hehe... Ok, now time to burst a few bubbles here.  I already have a list of a dozen or so DJs.  The ones I've talked to know who they are.  Hehe.

    Flay:  check your email.  Heh.

The music is mostly dependent on the DJ on duty, however, they should be taking requests and such.

Uhm... yeah.  Give me a few minutes here so I can wake up, and I'll think some more.   <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

NS radio would be very cool,

I believe CS radio just does an hour show bi-monthly, they read emails have callins etc.

I take it NSRadio will be 24/7?
