Ive made some techno music before but im to embarassed to post any of it up <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
Listen to Pink Floyd. No music can effect your mind like they can. Besides...they are the origionators of techno, they are the first band to use samples to loop beats, and pioneers of computer generated and digital sound.
Im back in a death metal phase. The melodic kind, not what I like to call "Flash Metal"
Anyways...Even tho I dont listen to it, I respect techno mainly because the music is still "free"...and by that I mean, its not strangled by the RIAA or corporate greed. Its still created by the artists and not compromized...as far as I know anyway.

I can't remember which ones are which but certain activities go with certain levels... for example, being hypnotised will actually give the same levels as getting engrossed in something; something that led to research into hypnosis being a kind of focussed attention =3
Basically techno and classical can play heck with your brainwaves but classical tends to go towards a more sort of relaxed side, techno can inspire feelings of energy or even well-being but on either side it's completely dependant on the song itself ^^ most of the techno stuff is caused by a combination of the heavy bass and sometimes some of the sounds in them that are slightly outside the human hearing range. Maryln Manson played about with subsonics when he was making music for the resident evil film and when he played one of the tunes the directors dog, who was usually a very quiet little thing, went absolutely schizo XD Some tunes also made some of the staff feel ill so he had to change those <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Yep, it's all about wavelengths...Our brain goes into alpha patterns during REM sleep.(the deepest sleep, this is where lucid dreaming may occur, and where dreams occur in general)...our brains operate at different wavelengths while we concentrate, while were sad and so in. There are tonal frequencies that can trick your brain into operating on those wavelengths, and they arent nescesarily sub sonic either, in fact many of them are quite audible, Pink Floyd uses them. (If you listen you can hear the same or very similar droning melody in the backgound of thier songs)From what I remember, tonal frequencies only produce relaxing feelings, feelings of well being and subdued emotions.
Energy comes from rythm. Rythm is far more physical. Rythm can energize us even without music. If youve ever been in a drum circle you can feel it...its weird. I think techno (some of it, not most) and bits and peices of other music operates on both these levels creating a unique effect.
But the fact is, there is no scientific explanation for why music moves us, its like trying to define buety.

For some reason, Evanescence - My Immortal makes me feel pleasently cool and generally calm whenever I listen to it. Maybe it's because I associate it with my girlfriend who looks a bit like the lead singer in Evanescence . Or it could just be the piano...
