    I've never reformatted...I don't know how...Also, I wouldn't know what to do once it is reformatted.

    I also have some MST3k movies that you can't get on dvd or tape, which took forever to download...and those would be deleted, so pffft. I just need to make it start up a little faster and I'll be happy (no idea how to do that really either, pffft....what msconfig stuff is mandatory?).

    I don't reformat. A defrag and a windows reinstallation is enough to speed up the system and you don't loose the data.

    (btw, install linux <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> )

    I seriously need to format... I'm in FAT32 but with my setup it turns out I should've done NTSF or whatever the funny new one is called.
    Oh well... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    uh FAT32 is supposed to mainly be used if youve got multiple partitions.

    I've got my drive in 2 partitions... 1 is C which is a little squigdy ball of 10Gb for storing all my systemy stuff and it's the bit that gets reformatted from time to time then there's huge big cuddly D part which holds all my insanely cool stuff like MP3s, installs, artwork and... um... stuff ^^

    maybe posting at almost 1am in the morning after not sleeping properly for a few days is a bad idea? o.O

    1) Format.
    2) Install OS.
    3) If windows, defrag. DO NOT EVEN PUT ON DRIVERS UNTIL YOU DEFRAG.
    4) Drivers. Usually just a network card, then download all the absolute-newest stuff for all the rest.
    5) Half-Life + NS
    6) Maya
    7) WinAMP + R2E

    I may actually have to do the format/reinstall dance, as I forgot I'd left 12GB for a Linux install, and needed it. A quick PartitionMagic later, and I have the space... but everything's moving at snail-speed, even after three defrags. :b Difficult part is forcing myself to find somewhere else to move all of my important crud to, that doesn't involve being transferred through my dinky 10B-T hub. Time to make a crossover cable, I guess.
