    I sure hope things about this game will come out well.

    Heh, that's original, but I'll try to keep this in mind <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    CaptainPanaka -> LOL <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> I was thinking about posting a pic myself, but I'm glad you did, because I realized I wouldn't want to go through the pain of browsing the web for one, uploading it etc. so thanks ^_^

    As for the Ghost class thing, I'm sorry but I'll try to stick as closely as possible to the original look and design of the official male marine, in order to keep things coherents.

    Apart from this, thanks for all the referencial material .OrganoX. ^_^

    Hi! hi!

    Thanks for all the warm welcomes! It almost feels like coming back home after a long (and at times painful) trip ^o^
    I hope it'll stop here, otherwise I may shed a tear ^_^

    Well, anyway since I'm your average lazy guy I felt I may post directly updated pics of the model on the forums (tried to keep them around 40ko):

    <img src='http://membres.lycos.fr/ylianthal/nat_no_tex1.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    <img src='http://membres.lycos.fr/ylianthal/nat_no_tex2.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    <img src='http://membres.lycos.fr/ylianthal/nat_no_tex3.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    <img src='http://membres.lycos.fr/ylianthal/nat_no_tex4.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    <img src='http://membres.lycos.fr/ylianthal/nat_no_tex5.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    So, if you wonder what's the big idea here, the fact is that I just modified slightly some parts of the model, and more importantly I optimized it a little:

    Before, it had something around 194O polys, and the actual version has 1440 polys in it.
    It's still 300 polys higher than the standard male marine model though, and there might be a way to reduce the polycount a little bit more, but my objective was to reach the 1500 polys limitation.
    -And if you wonder why 1500 polys, it's just because of this:

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->(Coil @ Oct 1 2003, 10:47 AM)
    In that case, I will make my omnipresent request to optimise this to <1500 polys. ^^ Think of the little people. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Here you go Coil! ^_^

    -Also thanks to Dela for posting the exact polycount of the official models in his<a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66420' target='_blank'>Default Polygon List Thread</a>, very helpful ^^-

    Well, now that I have done some of my homeworks, I feel like I can chat a little (yes it's unlikely to see me troll around, even in my own topic, since I would feel guilty of not working on the model... still that's some kind of good motivation):

    Err... I didn't forget this part of her anatomy Jean Luc Picard (are you French?), you don't have to worry, unless you and Durandal think the space I left isn't enough?

    Thanks FunkyFungus and Stavesacre, I hope it will turn out well^^

    Long time no see Nemesis Zero, good to see you around <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Oh my, Supernorn, I did notice you became a forum Sire (congratz hehe), by the time I got back... have I been away for such a long time...

    Well, that's it for now I guess, let me have a nap, then I'll try to allocate some of my time and brain processing power on the dreaded UVW mapping part...

    Not bad <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> Though perhaps makethe edges of the armor more visible, the transaction between armor and skin is too smooth and the armor seems abit organic..

    Well, made the arms somewhat wider, and added strenght to the shoulders and to the sides, as shown below:

    (before/after)
    <img src='http://membres.lycos.fr/ylianthal/nat_no_tex7.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    <img src='http://membres.lycos.fr/ylianthal/nat_no_tex6.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    (before/after)
    <img src='http://membres.lycos.fr/ylianthal/nat_no_tex8.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    <img src='http://membres.lycos.fr/ylianthal/nat_no_tex9.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    But I think this will be as far as I'll go about this point.
    I already had some arguments with some friends of mine about it, but eventualy, I would like the model to be different enough from his male counterpart, even if this means that she won't look as bad*ss as Lt Ripley <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    If I did want to make some builky character model, I would have thought twice before starting a female ^_^

    Well, next updates should concern the skin..
    So back to action...

    looking good... maybe... and just maybe... sum1 should make both a new female and male marine, with a normalish PC of about 1.5 - 2k... both with the same armor stylings, and it'll be the shizzle

    how about the possibilty as preference "female or male skin" for both Heavy and normal marine
  • IcejellyIcejelly Join Date: 2003-06-10 Member: 17176Members
    ditto on the ponytail, though the anatomy's looking really sweet right now, and ignore those people who go "OMJ WHER TEH B00BEES, WANS BIGGOR BEWBIEZ". it's really fine right now, besides, im sure the female 'rines won't want to risk their lower backs carrying 2 "huge accessories" along with them to the frontlines, no? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    For a "Heavy" Female Marine what about th SC Medic?

    Heh!

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->For a "Heavy" Female Marine what about th SC Medic? <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Well in my opinion, Heavy armors are such expensive pieces of technology that they won't be able to afford a "female-looking" model (remember heavies are prototypes).
    They would rather make a unisex model and plug male or female marines inside, no matter the fact that their chromosom is XX or XY.
    Beside, the actual Heavy armor is so huge that a woman wouldn't feel too cramped inside...
