<div class="IPBDescription">Initial ideas</div>I want to make a map, but initial layout ideas are needed, I've made a basic map layout but imput advice is needed. The basic premise is that marines start off in the centre of the map with 3 hives surrounding them in different directions

    Are these supposed to be vauge areas or actual rooms?

    The top-left hive only has one entrance, it really should have two.

    It needs to take <i>at least</i> twenty seconds to walk from the marine start to each hive and from hive to hive.  That map looks like it would be a lot shorter than that.

    It looks really, really tiny in comparison to most of the other NS maps, but that might be a good change of pace from the usual.  Also, the northwestern hive only has one entrance, and this is a BAD thing.  Some alien-only paths might help that a bit, but I'd suggest adding another passageway into that hive anyway.  Other than that, it's not bad, but it might be a little tough for the aliens to coordinate their efforts between hives since the hives are on all sides of the command console.

    What's the theme of the map?  Knowing your theme ahead of time helps guide things like this.

    The rooms without any indication are just rooms that would be assigned a perpose later on.

    The actual design is just a first draft. It will become more complex, but as to the idea of being surrounded by hives on all  <!--emo&:bob:--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bob.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bob:'><!--endemo--> fronts <!--emo&:tiny:--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tiny.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':tiny:'><!--endemo--> , waddayafink?

    I'll make sure to add vents and at least two entrances to the hives/command center
