Wierd Happenings...

is mr pink's computer possesed?
Last night, I was up until about 2:00 AM playing computer games. I go to bed, and I hear this wierd rumpling sound coming from the computer room (the computer room is across the hall from my bedroom). At first I don't think much of it, it's probably the heater or something of that sort. After about 5 minutes, the sound starts getting louder and creepier. Picture what it would sound like if you were torturing a crow. At this point, I am scared sh!tless. This goes on for about half an hour, but thats when things start getting really wierd.

Now, I am going crazy trying to come up with any explanation as to what is causing the sound, and a wierd thought comes into my mind: I remembered when I was really little and my mom or sister said they new someone who was really into quiji boards, but stopped playing them because they claimed that this person had "been visitted by the devil". It is just one of those wierd memories you have from childhood. I think to myself "I don't want anything to do with the devil", and at this very moment, after a half hour, the sound stops. After this, I'm not sure if I was imagining it or not but I may have started the sound kind of start up again but never loud and I'm not even sure if it was really there.

The next morning, I'm sitting there eating breakfast alone, and I remember the events of last night. The garage door, which is on a hinge swings open making a creeking noise that further scares the krap out of me (there was also no one in the garage).

This isn't the first wierd things my computer has done either. I have seen it crash exactly at midnight, totally randomly, even when I had the clock set to other times. Once, the speakers started playing a wierd clanging sound, very similar to what it sounds like if you have a huge battle going on in warcraft 3. It's begun playing heavy rock music before for no reason at all.

Sounds like your CPU is possessed.

    Here's how to fix it:
    1) Take out CPU.
    2) Trade it to blind kid.
    3) Buy new CPU.

Heh, no. I'm kidding. I couldn't resist. It may be a hardware problem, I'd have a professional take a look.

I read somewhere that it's possible for sound cards to pick up transmissions from radio stations. This isn't supposed to happen, of course, but it can if the card isn't properly shielded against interference.

I've had my computer turn off for NO reason. It'll be on one second, then *click* and it's off. While I was playing a game of Firearms, holding off the enemies so my teammates could grab a control position.

    MrPink, get McAfee PriestWall +

I know my computer makes zombie like moaning when I put it in standby.. but I figured out that its just the fan making a couple forced rotations every once in a while..

Guys get this and I kid you not, one day me and my mom were getting an arguement over me being on the computer to much. So the computer is now turned off and she comes in and ask if it is off. Around the same time I said the computer was off, it turned on. I didn't touch nothing, nada!

Last halloween at exactly midnight all the power in my house turned off except my computer stayed on, the screen went completely red and the speakers started blasting "Kneel before your master!" really loudly, then my bed started shaking and all the windows in the house shattered.

    Is that weird?

I've always been afraid of my computer. My computer is on a desk next to my bed and everynight when I'm trying to fall asleep I just stare at teh moniter and wait for something to happen. Computers are freaky when they have no power but the lights inside still glow all night long... but I have comfort in the knowing the fact that my computer already controls me, so common sence would tell me it has no reason to hurt me

It does the same thing with me. I turn the computer off, and it turns itself back on within a few minutes. It's not a set time period either. Totally random start. Don't know why, doesn't matter to me really.

You know a lot of what you guys are describing is just common problems that are more than likely due to a dying/faulty power supply.

But to MrPink though, your problems do indeed seem supernatural.

    I offer two solutions:

    1) Go to a church
    2) Find Holy Water
    3) Dip finger in Holy Water
    4) If steam/smoke comes out, congratulations: you're Al Pachino. Send me autograph.

    or:

    1) Pack bags
    2) Get the hell out, because you're living in an area where rodents should have sex and that's about it.

So the red monitor and chanting of "Kneel before your master" is due to the power supply? Weah, i was really worried.

The "Norton Exorcist" post made me spit cola everywhere... Cheers hives..

Slightly offtopic, but my guitar used to sometimes pick up Spanish or Portuguese radio, depending on where I stood in the room, which was odd...thrashing away quite happily, move 2 feet to left, random distorted Spanish gibberings..

I imagine it was the extension cable acting as an aerial, either that or I owned a haunted Ibanez...

My computer monitor scares me at night since it's in my room. I just look at it like something I going to happen, like it will turn on and have a smiley face on it, and then slap me with the mouse.

Er people, Computers can be posessed.
It's called a trojan, you know, one of those nasty viruses that allow hackers to gain control of your computer?. I would bet over half of these "computer possession" stories are the result of some kind of trojan or virus.
Also, it is possible for some computers to turn themselves on by "themslves". If the power switch is suitibly "poor" and the humidity conditions are right, something like a radio signal or some freak electromagnetic buildup could close the power switch for a second - effectively turning it on.

Also, with the right weather conditions, some sound devices can pick up radio signals - if you live near any powerlines or something like that this might explain it. There is a lot of freaky stuff that can happen as a result of electromagneticy thingies - including what you are experiencing.

However, if you live in an area devoid of powerlines, or any kind of transmitter thingies, it may be time to get worried. In which case, use an AOL trial cd to ward off any evil spirits. This should normally scare off any lesser demons/spirits, but may accidentally summon greater demons/spirits. In which case, threaten to send them aol trial cds, and tell them of it's completely free 180 hour trial, with no obligation to buy!

Failing that, video clips of Barney (the purple...thing) should scare off anything. Use with extreme caution though.
