Um? I believe to customize the games you have to open them, and change the settings. After that, a folder with the game title will be created in the steamapps/email/ or steamapps/email/half-life if it's a 3rd party mod.

Well, you open the game from the steam menu and fiddle with the controls/settings there.

What settings, exactly, do you mean?

well thats what i was gonna ask... do mean open the game using steam and changew the contol and keyboard setup (the key assignments) or do u mean change the settings that involve usin the console ingame (like the fps)<!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

Well, to do either of those, you still need to open the game through steam. For fps, just join a game, and type it in the console.
