Grr, arg!
Ok, so for the past week i've been redecorating, so in the meantime i've been using one of the other computers in the house. Whilst this keeps my internet addiction fairly under control, i have no games on here whatsoever. So i decided i'd dig out my Half-Life CD and install it so i can get a bit of NS going. But no, it's having none of it.

So the cd goes in fine, reads fine, loads the autoplay fine but as soon as i click "Install Half-Life" (or run "setup.exe" on my d:\) nothing happens, so i hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and check my processes, sure enough, it's there but it's using no resources or anything, hell, it doesn't even have a number under Mem Usage. So i click End Process and get ready to try again....

I said i click End Process.....
Click End Process......
*click click click click*
So, as i was saying, i click End Pro...... oh for f***'s sake.

The only way i can end the process of "setup.exe" is to reboot my machine, and every single time i try to run the installer it does this same thing. So i thought it could be the CD, so i copy it all to the HDD with no errors, then try it again. Same thing happens.

Sooooo, i'm trying to get Half-Life installed, but it won't let me. Help!

What are the spec's on the pc you are using?

Tried running another setup for another game? (that right there would pinpoint the problem to something relating HL and not the other)

Well i've run other installshield installers, yeah, it seems to be just Half-Life.

I've had a little idea tho, i'm installing the 350mb version of Steam which should negate the use of my Half-Life CD, Bwahahaha.

Yup I was gonna tell ya to just use Steam if ya said if it was only the HL install that wasn't working.

Hope all goes smooth with the steam and ya have HL goodness.
