NS style
The guys over at Koolpcmods came up with this little themed mod.

The window is made of blue UV reactive acrylic, laser etched with an image of the hive. Behind it is a cold cathode.

Here it is with the lights on.

Sorry, I couldn't get an image of the grill on the back, but it consists of a greenish/yellow UV reactive acrylic in the shape of a nifty web, very befitted to our friend the gorge(It was hard to find a web picture that didn't look like a spider's, though.) It's a lot like pressing you're flashlight key when you turn on the blacklight.
It's all very nice, and if any of you out there are thinking of modding your PC, you may want to go with the NS style. So yeah, go mod your pc out with NS. Especially if you want people to get interested in NS(Mod + NS trailer = intrigued NS newbies)

"Whats that! It's too good looking to be a half life mod!"
i agree.
I couldnt care less about Case modifications myself but that looks like some great workmanship and effort was put into it. Nice Work...
For the marines it wouldn't be too hard, I figure a couple of posed marines or somesuch would work for the etch, and a TSA logo would be a fair grill, and the badge is taken care of, but the alien badge I don't know.
Also, I do agree that for your average Joe, modding your case is a waste. However, for those who frequent LAN parties, modding your case can be quite an investment. Most decent LAN's these days have contests for the best looking PC.
Also, if you're using your parent's money, you shouldn't be modding your case anyway, it's a project for when you have a lot of time and money. A parent shouldn't even buy their kids a gaming computer. It needs to be something you make on your own.
If you see it as a waste, I won't nay-say you. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but I hope that you look into a bit more before you do dismiss it.
Oh, and if you do want to mod your case, here's a tip for when funds are low: set money aside for all of the mods you want, little by little, like $15-$30 every paycheck. It adds up, and soon you'll have enough.
That NS mod is pretty fly. I love the new UV-active windows and other UV-active stuff. I'm a bit of a stupid little raver-wannabe kiddie who just likes shiny glowing stuff and large pants, so I have a blacklight and some neon green stuff inside my Lian-Li. I'd so get a pair or UV-windows for my PC, but I'm saving up cash at the moment, plus, blue would clash with the green theme I have. Bad enough I have an MSI LED fan inside my computer which I can't seem to control the flashing patterns of. Saving up my cash for what, I don't know, but I want to get about $5000-7500 in my account before thinking about what toys to spend it on, if anything. I'll probably be in school again by that time though, which means I'll end up blowing it on something silly like EDUCATION. Lame.
I still need a bright enough green LED to trigger my optical mouse. Then I can mod that sucker and be REALLY cool. I just have to find a machining tool to get a plexiglass mouse wheel and maybe a replacement translucent cover for my mouse top and buttons. Argh. And I still wish I had the guts to go water cooling style and risk the whole Water + Electricity = Potential Catastrophy thing. What is this I hear about some computers being able to vacuum out the air inside the case and reduce the temperature drastically somehow or whatever?
Yeah, I need a Mod-Buddy.
e.g. with all the TSA's emphasis on holograms (waypoints, HUD, etc), a full plexi-case - if done right - could be quite cool. (:

acrylic, but it is clear (or blue tinted)
Heck, we might even be able to make a little add-on to the NS store. I'm lazy though, so I'm not sure how that'll pan out.
There are some awesome things on the site and some more in development. Once I get a new case, I'll see what we can do with it. At the moment, I'm modding my brother's case, and I don't want to do anything too "drastic" with it, like putting in a light badge or a vent grill.
If I were to do it over again, though, here's my idea: I was thinking, y'know how the alien weapon selelction sprites are sort of bordered by a fog on the right and bottom sides? That would make an awesome addition for the window, I think, or something of the like. Of course, it would look a bit better perhaps with UV green or clear window. You can get those light boxes and put like a red or green spotlight on the hive. Give it a little flava. Of course I'd gray-scale the marine badge, too. The badge was really kinda complicated, so you might want something a little more simple.
I'm still looking for a good alien badge.
(Oh yeah, acrylic cases are nifty looking, but they generate a lot of static electricity. We were working on a prototype mini acrylic case and it was really static prone)
