Ever on rr.org
The kill delay is a very big problem even on rr.org,brcause if u press the kill bind 3 seconds b4 teh onos eats ya u still die 3 seconds before the onos kills you/gets res which is not good.I reqeust it be increased to 40! seconds.surely it doesnt take an onos 40 seconds to eat someone but atleast it will stop alot of the "kill" binds, well atleast on rr.org

Gore isn't a free res for kill.
The real killer of gore is that it removes a player from the game for a good 30 seconds or so.
The real killer of devour () is that it removes a player from the game for a good 30 seconds or so.

Which is precisely the reason a marine should do his damndest to avoid it.
*chuckle*
But seriously I don't see a problem at all, unless of course the onos is devouring stock marines...its like...WHY? T_T;
Too many times I have seen an Onos run in, devour a single LA marine and run away and hide while devouring him.
Certainly he took the LA marine out of the game for the devour period, but he also took himself out of the game!
What is more valuable, the time of a 100 resource onos or a free marine?
If the Onos is doing this, you are actually doing him a favor by suiciding... (He may not realize this :-D)
That reminds me, I must work out how many minutes a week is. *toddles of to use windows calculator*

Who is runing who's game? They guy that types "kill" or "retry" in the console or the stupid game mechanic that takes a marine player out of the action for 30 seconds? The truth is, there is no marine option to take an alien out of the game for 30 seconds. Yet another unbalanced game mechanic.....sigh.

Thats the point of it though, it takes you out of the game and give the onos life at the same time.
If you just go and /kill everytime you are about to be devoured its like blowing out brains with your gun. So shouldn't you be punished for being a wimp?
like maybe a loss of RES to the team?
Otherwise whats the point of devour when everyone just avoids it with killing, why use it at all its like gorge with more stamina used.
The marines have a whole bag of evil, devour is one of the only things that the kharaa do have that can seem unfair (when used with stomp).
Sieges can smoke HUGE res investments in from WoL, wheres the kharaa siege cannon to put an end to MS GL spam lock downs?
Its all relitive!
A better fix, IMO, would be to terminate the kill timer if a marine is devoured, "cancelling" the suicide. I imagine this will be included in an upcoming patch.
With cable modem, I can type "retry" in the console and be back in the game way quicker than 30 seconds.

But the kill switch is only pressed if it looks obvious the marine is gonna get chomped. Onos's who devour from cloak or by suprise will get thier prey. Its just that getting stomped and seeing the onos bearing down on you is enough of a warning, its a kill the onos doesn't deserve.
And would you rather spend the last 30 seconds of your life being melted inside a giant space rhino, or do it clean and quick with a pistol?
I think the smartest man ever on these forums said it best
"If run into your base and you all /kill yourselves because you fear I'm going to eat you.. then I'm just turning around and waiting 3 seconds and then come and ravage your undefended base, and it will be all your fault..."
I'm paraphrasing but I think the intent is correct..
I've just about been eaten and taken the ONOS down just before it devoured me, I've also been devoured and saved so to me, /killing yourself is a waste in all situations except 2
1) you are all the way on the other side of the map, you are low on health and you are not holding any strategic position (which should never happen in a game where you are following orders), AND there are no marines in the spawn que. It will take less time to /kill wait 3 seconds and respawn 8-10 seconds later than waiting for elevators and potentially dying and waiting that 8-10 seconds anyway.
2) It is early game and you are parasited.

Not even really useful here....
After parasite, I often leave my squad and go off in some opposite direction to lead the aliens away from our real objective. It works most of the time. Usually the alien that spit the parasite says you are in a group heading to X and of course the aliens key in on that little...yellow...circle...
I disagree, I like to have enougth time to walk around to the front of the marine I just stomped, chuckle, THEN devour
Have you ever tried to devour a marine who isn't stomped? When he's bhopping? (by "bhopping" I don't mean he's moving any faster, but he's moving up and down a lot) And when he's strafing wildly from side to side?
At times like that, I just use gore. Hence the whole purpose of devour flies out the window if stomp is nerfed, as you seem to want it to be.
lol
too funny
yeah any of you marines see me coming i can devour you all...its one of the benefits
of being a constellation member
so you better just kill yerselves and recycle your spawn portals
and have your commander get out of the chair
and hold REALLY REALLY still.
Why is changing anything automatically a 'nerf' If you get two onos, one with adrenaline stomping and one with celerity, you basically have as many kills as there are marines. Maybe if you could actually fire while stomped or it had less range or something.

^^
this is why coil is winner
he took the words out of my mouth
so this post is rather useless
*shrugs*
I dunno how its considered unbalanced.... lets just consider that a rine spawning with l3 weps and armour will destroy a newly spawned skulk. Thats why it's more important to keep rines out of the game.
So the balance is certainly there, if you know what you're looking for.

Hmm, I like that... "smartest man ever". Has a nice ring to it. And yes, you got the intent.

That would be just great however stomp, devour, gore the rest is best combo.
Are u asking me to get out of ns to go play another game until the patch comes out?And even so one other guy said play on a more heavily admined server didnt i mention that the topic says that it was on rr.org which is the most havily admined server ive ever seen, not once has there been no admins..atleast to my extend as --X-- Godlike..
