Steam Crashing Regular Hl

<div class="IPBDescription">:-(</div> CoFR, the only NS server I play on (yay reserve slots!), has yet to switch to Steam. I was able to connect with my previous install of Half Life. Ever since steam updated itself a couple days ago, I can't play. :-(

Thats BAD. Anyone have any thoughts of what to without uninstalling steam or reinstalling hl?

    there are 2 versions of servers
    WON servers (cofr)

    Steam servers (newer)

    steam gets better pings cause it doesnt get as congested with won..... steam crashes alot though and NS doenst have official patch
