Add to the story.
"Thought maybe a paragraph from our talented people would make for an interesting abstraction. Are you willing? If so add to this. If you want to ask questions etc put them in " " marks so people will know it is not part of the story. The only thing I would ask is you wait one day or at least until one other person has posted so you don't appear to be hogging the story. If you want we could have some others start as well. What do you think? Please carry on."

The game started out as all the previous game did. Phase into the base, look around, see the comm being manned, watch the structures being dropped, race over to the armoury, build, then hump it for ammo. Then listen for any orders from the comm. No orders, what was this ** doing?

Unfortunatly, the duing previous infestation, problems with the stations local nano grid caused it go offline in some areas. A new comm chair would have to be built in a more stable area.

The commander's voice finaly came over the net, a relief to all.
"Pack it up Squad 1. The net is down. Move it to reception. We're relocating."

There were the usual few, not listening to the commanders orders, heading off in the totally wrong direction. After a quick ammo check most of us started running to the waypoint set by our commander, on the lookout for any signs of infestation of alien activity.

We heard the click-click of alien claws and the chuckle, this was not turning out well. The squad on its way to the waypoint slowed down and began to double check ceilings and vents. The squad sighed with relief on reaching the waypoint without incident.

Under the comms oders the team regrouped. IPs, armoury, and a some turrets were hastily phased in and built by nervous hands.

"I want two squads people," The commander ordered, "Sgt. Reedboog, secure holoroom. Cpl.Davis, take second squad and back track down into the maintence sector I want the ventilation access secured."

He was acknowledged with twin replies of "Roger that."

Sgt.Reebdoog's squad cautiously entered the Hera Station holoroom.
"2 fireteams, move it. Fire team Alpha, take and secure the room. Bravo, flanking positions up top. I want this room sealed off."

Sgt. Reebdoog sighed away his sadness over using so many military clichés, and proceeded into holo room with his two fireteams. Bravo got up on the far platform above holo room, but started shooting at a gorge further down the way on the catwalks.

"Wait, you idiots!" Reebdoog shouted, "get your fuzzy newb arses back here!"

But it was to no help. The entire bravo team chased after the gorge into proccessing, while Alpha remained in holo room.

Three marines in heavy armor popped out from the IP.

"HQ said you needed some back up. Let's move!!"

Mechanical joints rang throughout the halls as we moved to save our comrades. The air tasted of uncertainty of the inevitable. What was the inevitable?

We got nearer to the battle. Gun shots and screams emanated into our ears. What little courage I had left suddenly vanished. Fate surrounded us...

Such a cruel mistress, fickle, she wrote and moved on. The scene that met the heavy squad was red and chunky, the skulks were more efficient than usual. It was as though they were protecting something very special.

of course, for the khraa, each hive is special and precious. for the hive holds the will of the whole. and the individual lives, mean nothing... As long as the enimy's hope fades away...

Aiming their weapons, the Heavy Squad rained fire upon the abominations. Writhing in agony, the skulks yelped and howled as lead shred through their bodies.

depleted uranium?

A yellow cloud came out from behind the skulks, engulfing those that were still alive.

"Umbra! Hold fire, conserve your bullets!" shouted one of the marines.

Then came a message from HQ. "We're sending you guys a scientist with some new toys." In Blinked Chief Science Officer Kalma, utilizing the new Blink Belt Technology. He quickly used it to telefrag the Fades. Back at the "command center," he began to explain this new Personal Phase Gate system. It required skill to use as he had, anyone starting out on it would only be able to warp to a Gate. He then explained that this was the first field test, and that they had better not ruin all the belts.

they say a hero can save us, but some people cant frelling wait. so off goes a hero, blinking fast as a gate. blinking through corridors, blinking through walls, blinking through WOL's and skulks, lerks, and a gorge. blinking past oc's and knifing the hive!

A man in tattered armor crawled out of a vent, his upper torso slumping down out of the vent but his lower half still in the vent.

"There's...too many of them...*gasp*"

His arms flailed and he slumped against the wall. Two marines stood there dumbfounded.

"Uh..."

"WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR SAVE THAT MAN!!"

The two marines ran over to the unconscious marine, pulling him out of the vent. He had no legs.

"Oh my GOD WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM!!"

The marines peered into the vent in an attempt to locate his legs, at which time two skulks lept out and tore their faces off.

aye, the marines looked grim. pinned down in base. moral running thin. constant attacks. constant fear. and the dying, the dying, the death and the blood!
• noobynooby Join Date: 2003-04-21 Member: 15717Members
A flood of blood, of adrenaline, fear, would they survive. A question going through everyones mind.
• EddEdd Join Date: 2003-05-08 Member: 16146Members
Thats when the called in the one man who could save them.
A man with $$6o Billion on his head. The Humanoid Typhoon, Vash the Stampede.
And he came to their aide, but was unable to kill anything.

And then he went to Edd's house and spanked his mamma for saying such a thing.

Now was the time for the human beast. he transported in through the remaining IP and detonated the nuke on his back. w00t. Then, the words appear on the screen:

GAME OVER

The 22-year old college kid slammed the arcade and yelled "Gawdammit!" Almost had it there/
• dr_ddr_d Join Date: 2003-03-28 Member: 14979Members
He opened his eyes but saw only darkness. The last thing he remembered was a blinding flash and then rushing sound, someone had detonated the nuke. He looked around but something wasn't right he could feel the air rush passed his face as he moved his head but saw no motion, he waved his hand in front of his face...oh god, he was blind. The blinded marine stood up and patted himself down to check for injuries, he seemed to be in one piece now he had to find other survivors.
• noobynooby Join Date: 2003-04-21 Member: 15717Members
Although blinded, he had the sense to stop and listen. He heard movement and his bowels loosened. "My god. What is that smell", were the sweetest words he had ever heard. At least he wasn't alone. Reality crept in and he wondered whether the owner of the voice could see.

"Don't worry... he's full of it."

"Shut up, Jefferson."

We walked into an invisible room. It was cool, though... like something caressing me to sleep. I fell and fell into the depths of my soul, finding the answer to it all. They laid me on the floor as they reached for their weapons. Sound became dull. Lots of screaming, lots of shooting. Hurting - hurting my ears. I just want to sleep...
