<div class="IPBDescription">Regarding plug-ins</div> On one server I visited, during the connection process it displayed a message saying who was on what team. e.g:

Aliens: JohnyUK, Mark
Marines: Zebedee, ....

I would very much like to put this on my server, but I don't know what it's called or where I can get it from. Any ideas?

If you use AdminMod, a good plugin is Consgreet, which can show the number of players, who's on which team, current map, etc.. You can get it here:
