<div class="IPBDescription">...but with all other games or CS</div> I don't know what it is, I just got my new Audigy 2 and it works like a charm, except in NS.
I hear all the sounds when I am in the menus, but as soon as I am in RR and then game, I don't hear anything. No footsteps, no music, no voice. All muted.
It only comes back when I entirely disco from the server, and go back to the first menu of NS (Quit screen).
I tried CS (forgive me <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->) and it works there.

also it may help if you gave your system specs and what windows version you are running

Dx9
MSI mainboard K7T266pro
1400MHz athlon c
256 MB DDR

Will check for the drivers...
But it's even more odd, since I played NS with this specs and I HAD sound... don't know what I changed or what IT © changed on my computer...
kill you config.cfg (rename to config.cfg.bak) and then try playing <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I will keep you informed later on if it worked out!
Thanks! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
sorry to get off topic here, but hey Thansal would you happen to know the cause or a fix for this problem

Also I planned on getting an Audigy.
I installed the latest drivers for audigy, now sound works..
Seems like the DX9 install wrecked the drivers to some extent.
BUT it happens to be somewhat disturbed..
like imagine a sound that makes something like "LUMMMMMMMM"
Now it sounds sometimes like
"LULULULULUMMMM MMM MMM MMMMM"
Like in Marine spawn on tanith.
Its only affecting the sourrounding sounds, like ambience.
Weapon fire etc. all sound normal.
Strange indeed...
Such a wonderful sound card, excellent sound, and it seems only NS is affected. All other games I play work normal.
This looks like if it turns out to be a realy bug.....
I have to play more to be sure, there *seem* to be some choppynesses left especially when several marines fire full gung-ho.
Sometimes this sounds like one shot, then a second slience and then another shot.
I start to believe the HL soundengine sin't able to cope with this soundcard satisfactory, as it is so much newer.
All for now, will keep you informed.
btw, how do you pick whether NS runs in win98 compatibility mode or other modes? where is that option? maybe i can try that too because mine seems choppy here and there
When you make a "link" to another file, like you have cstrike.exe in your according folder, and an cstrike.lnk link file to this .exe on your desktop.
Open the properties of the link file, and look out for an option to run the .exe in compatibility mode, shouldn't be difficult to find.
You can only enable this in link files, not the .exe themselves AFAIK.
