Oh, I'm sure you can, I just can't tell you how to do it until I muddle my way through this mire.

Thank goodness SOMEBODY got it installed without a hitch (previous post).

once again steam goes and F's up my HL once again, does anyone know how to convert the damn steam csstrike.exe back to my counteer-strike folder so i can play hl the REGULAR way?

btw: how come steam is so slow? when u exit it and 2 min later u want to get back in it says your already running it ----> ready to scream and go hunting for valve team members

At a guess, since that happened to me, too....

You still need to actually UPDATE half-life or something like that. This "Preparing to play" business while Steam freezes is atrocious.

What I did is what was suggested earlier.

I moved the NS folder from it's location under Sierra\Half-life to C:\program files\steam\steamapps\wsellers@nospam.com\half-life
........(I copied all of it, intact, and you should replace my email address with yours)
........(if your email directory is not there, you need to create it)

After I did that, "Natural Selection" showed up at the bottom of the games list. So I said, good...

Then I got a server list up (had to refresh twice to get them all) and found an NS Server and double clicked on it.

Lo and behold... It tells me I have to update Counter Strike? Goodness, that's odd.

So I click Install or Update and now I'm waiting while it's updating "Half-Life" (no mention of counterstrike, yet)

So that's where I am, waiting for between 60 and 400 minutes for it to update (it changes wildly). After which, I'll try again to launch the server.

In fact, since they don't think it'll ever break, they don't bother explaining what went wrong and why. I mean, after all, it didn't happen, right?

Like i said to path: If a terrorist was to destroy Vavles steam engines and they had to convert back to WON it wouldnt be terrorism it would be heroism!

Right on.

Hasn't anybody told Valve that steam was replaced by the internal combustion engine?

I kinda wonder if Steam isn't a twisted acronym for something.

Seriously. That is a major point of complaint for me. You should never have to wait for an ad to load before it will register that you are clicking things.

ok heres the battle plan, we have a lerk fly overhead and drop a sheet cover stealer (alien6) and it goes incognito and steals all of valves co workers bedsheets! with a threating noteon each bed saying bring back WON or your covers get it!, that would most definetly work!! now to find a lerk.....

I get disconnected due to "reliable channel overflow" (and the console spam "unknow command:ex_maxerrordistance") when I connect to a server... any Ideas?

SIERRA (who runs and owns the won system and it's servers) is pulling the plug on won.

If we bomb valve then in a couple of weeks all online halflife games will DIE. Either valve does what it can now to save the community (ie release steam), or we are truly screwed in a couple of weeks when WON dies due to Sierra.

Hrrrmmmm, some one's obviously read the "How to be banned asap guide".

Heres a curvy one for yah fellas. You all seem to have a steamapps/email/halflife folder.

All I got is the counterstrike folder. However I can launch and play halflife single player from steam. Any suggestions on how that works? Anyone know where my hl is being played from?

EDIT AHHA I FOUND IT. My hl is hidden in the counterstrike folder...
