I just finished converting all my hl files to steam (but left the origionals, not using steam till i HAVE to.)
Oddly enough, none of the mods it converted are in the games menu, in fact, where did the hl2 media go?
Yep no NS, no TS, no Sven Co-Op, no counter-life, just the normal ones it always shows!
I also tried to launch HL SP, which is apparently "ready to play" as it is up to date and installed. It sat there for a bit, I had the moniter opened so i saw it was using some network usage. Downloading at about 30kb/sec for a while. After it just hung there loading. Same goes for CS and TFC
...Hmmm steam is borked right now i guess. Either that or you need to validate through steam to launch anything, but you can't becuase they're too bogged down now :|
Funny thing is I never had a single problem through the entire beta of Steam.
Contrary to other people, my Steam account and cache stuff took suprisingly little time and effort. This led me to believe that others are just stupid and suck at steam.
After about 9 hours of updating, 4 accounts, and all of my patience, I finally got steam installed and in working order with NS installed. However, I have been waiting for NS to load for about 30 mins and am starting to lose it. Is this supposed to take this long to start HL up??

Bandwidth is expensive. Valve has designed a system which eats bandwidth.
If this is one of the ways in which they're selling Half-Life 2, they'd better have one hell of a worldwide server network organised. It's one thing being annoyed when a free update takes ages to download, another thing entirely when you'll have just paid money for full game.
It'll be quicker to get on a bus and travel to a real-world shop to buy the game - which is what I'm going to do...

There needs to be an update for NS to support Steam play.

If you have any questions, you can ask me. However, if you want to complain about the same things over and over, go somewhere else.
I think a working progress bar would have solved the majority of these complaints.
i hope someone is going to reverse engineer the ClientRegistry.blob and all the gcf stuff... since valve missed to include the prmised tools to investigate the gcf files.... and i would like to know what is stored in there...
