I've always hated Gamespy from day one. ASE was referred to me by a friend, but I didnt get it, sounded like a peice of crap but I hear its pretty good.

I just use in-game server finding.

What's so bad about gamespy and so good about ASE? Will ASE cease to function for gamespy-like operation after 21 days?

In-game server browsing is for me. I don't like having to restart the game every time I try to join a full server.

As for files, I check the official site for mirrors first, then get in line at FilePlanet, then search for it. That usually gets me the file fast.

HL quick query.... the ONLY difference between the registered and unregistered version is that you don't see a little "unregistered version" in the upper right corner. no ads, tons of features like auto-join when slots are available, run any number of programs upon launching HL (like punk buster, video-out software, red-dot) and then auto-closes them when HL is finished. you can custom config exactly HOW it pings and gathers servers, etc. etc. etc. try it. it's free. no spy ware either!!!!!!!!

oh, Jason is too lazy to make a win98 version, as everytime he's tried porting it back, it begins to have random crashes.
