<div class="IPBDescription">after I get a kill?</div> In ns2.0, whenever i kill someone/thing, my game freezes. (at least i think it's when i kill someone, not 100% but near to that)
at least I cant still play gorge for a while... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

specs:
winXP
1.3ghz amd (athlon)
512 mb memory.
nvidia riva tnt video card (cant find new drivers for xp <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo--> )
SBlive sound card.

HL doenst seem to crash... but all the mods do.
(i have searched, but couldnt seem to find any solutions)

Hmm, this happens to me only when I use the volume adjust buttons on my keyboard, other then that all I can say is update your windows <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

1) start a lan game and test test test (you said if you kill some 'thing' it hapens also, try killing buildings ussing random weps)
2) find driver updates for all cards. Trust me if you google it will come.
Did you say this hapens with ALL Mods but not vanilla HL?
3) reinstall HL/NS
4) get us some actual explenations of EXACTLY what hapens

does your comp freeze in a loop?

When it freezes, this is what happens:
all of the sudden (after a kill, i suppose) just before the critter/person dies (before i get their death message with my name) the video freezes dead, doesnt even wobble any, and the sound loops in about a 1 second length, usually the sound of whatever i killed dieing.

in other mods the same thing happens. but normal HL (not mp) does not have this problem.

i'll go get drivers now.

it freezes when i'm a marine and kill with pistol, lmg, hmg, gg, welder, and knife (all)
and when I'm alien, it freezes with all weapons also.

does not freeze when i destroy a structure.

ok, it SEEMS like you are halting up on some piece of HL MP code

I uninstalled/reinstalled HL, 1.1.1.0, and ns2.0.

it still crashes... but now not when i kill someone, just after a random ammount of time, at a random event (i could be killing, standing still, biulding, whatnot... whenever)
I changed my vid-card driver, but that didn't seem to have any effect other than lowering my FPS.

I used to crash playing dod 3.0 whenever I picked up dynamite. It wasnt the computer, it was the fact I downloaded a bummy copy. Redownload 2.0 from another source.

I have had the same problem with my SB-live, everything was fine and for the past 2 weeks HL crashes after about 5minutes into a game. Now sometimes i can play for an hour but usually it just crashes.

Description-

HL, TFC, CS, NS all crash with the soundloop of the last sound - For me it doesn't mater what the sound is it just repeats........Ctl, Alt, Del doesn't work.it's a reset and full boot here everytime.

Everything i have done in the 2 weeks

I have reinstalled my whole OS(win98) and updated all drivers and still the game crashes.

I have never had any trouble with the game HL itself but now even that will not play. Even with a vanilla HL with no 1.1.10 update the game still crashed. .....ok i thought so i removed my SBlive form the device manager and then went ahead and played NS with no sound and i played with no problems AT ALL

I don't know what it is with the SBlive cards but it does seem strange that someone else is having the same problem after about the same amount of time <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> . I bought my card in May.

I would suggest getting another sound card, which is what i am going to do because there is nothing wrong with my install or system.

look, you have tracked this down to sound card

probably meens a borked driver or a borked card

contact creative, they will either give you a better driver or a free sound card

got new drivers+driver patch. now I can play and kill all I want!

minus the random crash every once in a while... but that's only once every 3 days or so...

yay, NS rocks.
