but words will never hurt me
False or true?

It is the thoughts we shouldn't dwell on that have momentary effect the minute we see something we recognize, which we have experienced with full flak.

Whenever someone has said something to me I don't like, for example my friend said I had no morals, and I said, "well I am a Christian and I act better than a lot of people," and he said, "no you don't." Then I said, "well you don't believe in God so why are you saying that I have no morals." BlaBlaBla...

It hits me hard that I don't act like a good Christian, it backwashes against all that I believe in.

girls can pitch some hard f***in words.

guys, no problem. crowds, no problem.

but one on one, when girls get mean, it's hard not to get emotional.

Agreed, when it is from the opposite sex, it hurts the most.

What if they are words OF FIRE?? Bet those hurt a lot.

But seriously, words don't hurt all that much. Unless it's coming from a chick during a breakup that's going down, words don't generally make me too hurt/angry/etc. Either from a girl or like... one of my best friends that's suddenly disowning me.

Now feels like an appropriate time for this.

    LIES!!!!

omg i've been beaten, thrown, twisted, hit in the gut, and sliced and diced all at the same time (football ), but none of that compares to the feeling you get when you hear the girl you've liked for a year tells her friends that she's sick of you. then you just wish you can die.

From a psychological standpoint, words have much more potential to hurt someone in the long run than either sticks or stones:

"Its your fault your parents are getting a divorce"
    "You'll never succeed in life"
    "Lets just be friends"
    etc.

we're talking all serious like, reasonable, practical people.

    and then:

"i'm not ready right now for a serious relationship."

my temper went from 0 (calm) to 100 (pyst).

    my reply?

    "bull f***ing sh*t."

    cuz it was.

"When I kissed you, I was just testing to see if I liked you... and I didn't, really."

Yeah, she said that (slightly paraphrased). After getting back with her boyfriend. The day after.

I'll take sticks and stones any day.

Yes....it does hurt a lot when girls who you like a lot say stuff to you like that....If only they knew...

    BUT

I think it's a lot harder when your parents say mean stuff to you....When they yell at me I get pretty emotional.....I sound like a wuss but I guess that's what happens when you love your parents so much and your not sure if they love you the same back....

Word. I have enough angst to share with anyone who needs some extra.

And Mullet, I agree sort of. Depends how strong your feelings are for the girl, and your parents.

They shouldn't, but they do. There are numerous books on the subject, but the general gist of (the good ones) is: don't take anything personally. When someone says something to you - anything at all - that's because of something they've decided to do based on who they are and what they think. If someone insults you, it's because they believe an insult is in order. If someone compliments you, it's because they believe you deserve a compliment.

Realistically: it's only their opinion. And it shouldn't matter.

A lot of the examples you used to show 'hurtful' things girls have said to guys, are things that are said when they are breaking up with you. as long as you're not molesting children, you're a better Christian than a lot of priests =P but seriously, if you question your morality about something, ask yourself, WWJD...

I'm not a Christian, so I have to settle for asking myself, WWBBD...

edit: as for women, ayup, they hurt. Try this one on for size, from your gf of four years: "I spent Valentine's Day with another guy." Funny thing is, I found a replacement for her within 2 weeks, and her thing with that guy didn't work out. Then she started stalking me and plotting to get me back. Funny what happens to a girl when she sees she's expendable...

Stick and Stones may break MY bones, but a .50cal will always kill.

Femme's are...(no offense Jane) a bit crazy at times. What hurts the most is when your the "nice guy" and thusly you find out that old adage "Nice guys finish last" is not only correct, but sometimes they never finish. In my entire lifetime, (18 years+) I've been talked to BY a girl about 10 times for non-school related stuff. About twice a year since 5th grade. That makes life really lonely and really hard. Then I finally get a girlfriend and...we graduate high school, move about 100 miles apart, and live completely different lives.

Why can't I have the luck to find the gamer femme's that wouldn't mind the career path I have set before me.

No offense taken I know girls can be crazy, but do you think that guys don't go crazy on us? Many guys I've known (I was/am friends with them, nothing more) have gone psycho on me. Anyone has the potential to wig out. I just don't think it's fair for you guys to be so heavily insulting girls, when you only use bad times as references. Do you really think the girls like or derive enjoyment out of breaking up with you? Many of the examples I quoted before are nice things you can say to someone to let them know that it's just not going to work, sometimes it just doesn't. Let me put it this way:

You've been dating and pretty intimate with someone for awhile, then one of you realizes that it just isn't going to work, would you rather them just pretend like they are happy with you, or would you rather them tell you that they aren't interested, so that both of the people in the relationship can then get the opportunity to date people that they are better suited for. I'm serious, I want your personal opinion from you guys, would you rather be strewn along, or would you rather deal with the rejection? I'm curious.

i completely agree. i'd rather know that a girl didn't like me. but it doesn't stop the fact that it still hurts. it's just hard to deal with the rejection.

it's hard to control emotions. even tho something may happen for the better, you're still gonna get angry or depressed.

sleeping habits? What's this... thing I'm hearing about? Especially the sleeping part?

What really hurts a guy is insomnia combined with school. And you breaking up with your girlfriend. And stuff like lack of food, jumping off a cliff and all that stuff that's usually not going to hit you anyway. Racist/prejudice? make em continue, doesn't bother me they're being retards. Insults? Who cares as long as I live my life and they have whatever little fun they can have.

I've learned to love a woman, but not get so attached that it hurts to break up. The only thing I have a problem with is when they AVOID breaking up with me. Makes me feel like ****, and like I'm not even worth the effort it takes to break up with.
