<div class="IPBDescription">Regarding Cheating-Death</div> Heya all,,,

Just thought I'd mention that C-D is now on version 4.3.0 -> and most servers won't let you connect with an outdated C-D.

So you try to upgrade, and get the message 'Upgrade Server Busy' :-(

Been trying to upgrade about every five minutes for past 2 hours, same fing.

Cant play on any of my favourite servers now :-(

<span style='color:white'>Admin Translation: head over to <a href='http://www.unitedadmins.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.unitedadmins.com/</a> and download the newest version of Cheating Death so you don't have any trouble connecting to your favorite servers! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> </span>

Yep, just go to the site and download the newest version. The only time the auto-update works for me is when I miss the upgrade release date because I'm out of town or something. It never works the first couple of days after the release.

The latest server version know when CD is updated and check the client version is the latest release <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> Makes the job of us server ops much easier. Unfortunately the website cant cope with the demand a new version brings at the moment. I'm sure they'll deal with it soon enough.

Meh, I don't use C-D a lot anymore. I use it only when I'm looking for an awesome game and go on CoFR or something, but that's always full. It's tiring to have to keep constantly updating, I think. But oh well, I suppose I'll grab this and go play a game...

oh constant updating omg no. you set it to check when its opened, set it to start minimized and it does it automatically. such a high price to pay for the possibility of denying osme cheaters their game.

If people know this sort of thing is happening (I couldn't even get it off the site at one point yesterday) then can't server operators set C-D to allow the last version to be used aswell for a week or something?
  • eagleceaglec Join Date: 2002-11-25 Member: 9948Members, Constellation
Well you have the sv_cdRequireVersion thingy which is set to "auto". Server Ops can set it to a version number and update it manually or leave it at auto and it updates when it has to. I don't know how it detects a new version but it's one less hassle for the server op. So it stays on Auto.

as far as i know, as long as you are running cd the server lets you connect, even if its not the most recent version
  • eagleceaglec Join Date: 2002-11-25 Member: 9948Members, Constellation
thats what I thought... so long as you had CD of a version equal or higher than the server version and so long as cdrequire version was set to a version lower than your version or auto.

    I was wrong.
